Only reason why I beleive it will never catch up is because M$ will drop the price and then be in dirent competition as far as price with the Wii. Who knows the core might go down to $199. And between 360 and their lineup this year against the Wii, most of the kids are gonna choose the 360 if they have a choice.
M$ will make a huge leap in sales this year....

NO, only because by this time next year when everyone accepts blu-ray won, there will most definitely be some cheap (chinese) manufacturer and other brands that will be sellig blu-ray players for HALF of PS3 cost. (just like moore said once, 360 has a solution for whatever formats wins, hinting at a blu-ray add on)
I beleive, withouth a doubt, PS3 would have won this console war if it did not include blu-ray. thus coming out same time, same price as 360.
no, they wouldn't sky rocket. they would definitely go up, thats for sure. but you must know that some chinese or whatever manufacturer are probably going to have blu-ray players next year for good prices, $200-$300. Or who knows? maybe cheaper....

AGREED.... but there is no way they can win the console war, only because of the fact they included their blu-ray into the PS3 thus making it too expensive for mass market. History shows that in the past the majority of units whether ps2, xbox, sold most when they hit the sweet spot of $199. M$ is in a position to make that happen this year with its core 360. PS3 is $600!! even if they dropped the price $100 but every year, it will still be YEARS before the mass market is ready for it.

PS3 is losing alot of money on each unit sold. They are starting at a price of $600. How long do you really believe it will take them to hit the $199 price? even if they drop $100 every year, your still looking at years!!!! they already said they dont expect to see profits from PS3 till 2009!!!
Xbox 360 has been out for almost 2 years, history shows they are due for a price drop. WHy do you not believe the core can't drop down to $199?
by end of year, 360 price will drop maybe by $50 or $100. THat means the mass market will see be able to afford it. No parents are going to be able to afford a $600 console for their kids or even $500, but drop the 360 core to $199....yeah, then you will see a huge jump in sales. PS3 will never be able to catch up because it will be YEARS before they hit the sweet spot. By the time PS3 drops down to $199 it'll probably be 2010, and it'll time for the next round of next-gen.

isn't the PS3's blu-ray rated in the top five? does it really matter to you that its slower? you'd also be getting exclusive games and web-browsing for a cheaper price.
i got alot of love for my 360, but if I really need a blu-ray player right now, the obvious choice should be PS3.
BUT they are paying the price in the gaming division. Once Xbox drops down to the SWEET spot of $199, (history proves that price is when majorityof units got sold) it will end up being a landslide since it will be years before PS3 will hit that price
haha.... i have 5 hd-dvd movies and one is a PORNO. its not very good, pimples, bruises, and f*cked up teeth i noticed, but i sure as hell satisfied my thirst to seeing one in full 1080p.
not looking too good for HD-DVD, and I have the add on for 360. Was really looking forward to buying Matrix trilogy, but now i just can't.

There will always be new games coming out, but this is GTA!! this game was sonys best selling game for PS2, over 35 million sold!! its the reason millions bought the PS2 and now its on the 360 same launch day with extra content. i'd be pissed too if I were you. especially if your one of the ones that bought PS3 for GTA.

but you gotta admit, between the two consoles, that extra content is the selling point. Although you say you dont want it now, who know what kind of extra content were looking at. Could be missions? could be an island? could even be a neigboring city? something totally different than original but using same graphics engine and gameplay. Just lok at shivering isles or HL2 episode 1.

as much as I think this was a very smart move on M$, one can only wonder after only six months, could the content be all that great?
but then another way to look at it, since Moore anounce this last year, that means the have been working on this extra content alongside with the original version,
or maybe they are just taking out chapters and missions that should have been included in original 360/PS3 version and marketing it as the exclusive content.
its a gamecube with new controls!! if all your getting are new controls, that is not next gen.... or didn't you hear that a company already made a control set up for 360 and ps3 that is very similar to the Wii, does that mean when that comes out we've entered the next next gen!??!
