In the end, it's all about the quality and quanity of games at an affordable price.
This gen it was more important for Sony to win the format war, not the console war.
So even if they never fully recoup the losses for the PS3, that's ok because they now have a bright future with new avenue for huge profits, blu-ray.

The demo was awesome.
Me and like 10 buddies from work loved the multi-player.
It's like a mix between COD4 and Frontlines.
as I consumer, you gotta love em because they are taking a LOSS on every PS3 sold. (yet sonyfans are always asking for another price cut) haha
And I guessing MS is tired of losing money on consoles sold especially after the original Xbox, but if only MS had the same mentality, they would have dropped the price on the 360 long ago to keep the momentum going which has been on a decline lately.

i expect the next Xbox to have lots of memory.
1 gig for the new and more advanced console GPU and 1-2 gig for a quad CPU.
first gen - reliable hardware, too expensive because they didn't own the parts, needed more games. Made no money.
this gen - own the parts, biggest library and highest rated games and finally making money, but the hardware was unreliable first couple of years.
next gen - own the parts, keep the great games coming and reliable console.
If the next Xbox comes out in 2010, MS might have TWO whole years on the market before Sony does PS4.
Halo 3 was a great and fun game... maybe you should go back and read the reviews or play the game yourself with some friends. The campaign and the multiplayer are alot of fun.
I played the campaign twice, once on hard, then legendary. Playing it 4 player co-op with your friends was alot of fun and still is to this day. And the multi-player is one of the best multi-player ever made. It's the game used for major league gaming.

reaons being:
1. First PS3 to have DS3 packaged in
2. Walmart and Best Buy $100 off promotion
3. 80gig with full backward compatible was scarce
4. MGS4 was BUNDLED with the PS3.
So, did Sony play their cards right to ensure MGS4 sells good in it's first week? yes

gears did get a 10 for graphics, i provided the link....
That only because MS is being greedy making money on each console sold and not doing more than a measly 50 buck price drop after almost three years....
While Sony is losing money on each console sold and has already had TWO price drops within the first year.
Maybe after E3 the 360 with have the price drop to reach the proven mass market "sweet spot" of $199.... then we'll see ;)

really? i dont recall Uncharted winning any awards for graphics, seems like only the die-hard sonyfan say Uncharted is the best every chance they get.

Uncharted got a 9 from IGN
So Naughty Dog copied the idea from Gears and it's successful cover system, and Epic copied from Uncharted for a more refined cover system that gives people a choice.
360 is getting Mii's
PS3 is getting achievements, i mean trophies..
both are copying the Wii-motes...
point is, games and consoles get better and better over time, whether by innovation or other means (copying)
Sony needs to realize this gen is completely different from last gen.
Sony does not have the dominance it once had.
The PS3 is more complex and more expensive to develop for as compared to the 360
Sony needs to start paying for more exclusives from third party, because that loyalty crap is last gen when ps2 was dominating.
It all comes down to what your in house studio can produce and what exclusive games you can buy from third parties.
