Obviously it did and continues doing something right.
have to completely agree....
everytime I see my kid playing it, he is on some newly designed level.... it's always something different thanks to forge.
And then he is always using theater and sending me video clip messages to my xbox 360 of cool and/or funny gameplays that he did.
and just recently, he found out about Bungie.net... now he is always on seeing his stats, and being part of that community.
seriously... what other game offers so ...

at launch the 80gig ps3 was $599
last year it got a price cut bringing it to $499
and in sept the 80gig ps3 will be $399
thats two HUGE price cuts of 100 each in less than two years!!
whether they added (DS3)or took out features (Backwards Comp) is irrelevant in the public's eye, all we know is that the 80gig ps3 will be $399 in sept.
With price cuts on both ps3 and 360 next month, and the big AAA games coming from both camps....
these next couple of months will be very interesting!!

ummm... what do you call the 80gig ps3 for $399 in sept then? compared to $599 at launch?
this is a price cut, and a HUGE one. Sony is trying to make it look like a new sku..... but try telling that to the poor saps that bought the 80gig at launch for 600 beans.
To be honest, i would have prefered not to have the demo... but being that it will be there, it will check it out.
Because for many people, this will be a day 1 purchase, and the demo just takes some of the surprise out of how the game will play/look.
This is obviously aimed at:
1. the most hardcore of Gears fans
2. Kids
3. collectors.
I bought one the minute I heard about it and upgraded it to the limited edition for 10 bucks more. why you ask? I have a 12 year old kid, and Gears and Halo are his favorite games. Last year the legendary Halo 3 game with helmet was his 07 xmas present and he LOVED it. So, basically I just bought him his xmas present for 08.

next year, games will come out the woodworks from both camps that haven't been announced. Who's to to say Rare won't release PDZ2 or KI3? ANd SC and Alan could be released next year along side Mass Effect 2 and that Halo game by Peter Jackson

you are definitely in the minority. but then again, this site is over run by playstation fans. but in the real world, sales and reviews are how a games is looked upon on whether it was great or not.

i still don't see the need to buy a ps3, but this game is trying something new.... so i'll wait for reviews and the buzz on the internet to see how it all pans out.
