@miyamoto
Captain N? 2011? What? Where did this come from?
Yeah, it's kind of crazy, Rayman actually has hype for once. Maybe not as much as it did a week ago... we'll see if Rayman can stay relevant come September. Here's hoping Ubisoft didn't just f*** up the franchise.
Arguing about consoles is strange. We don't argue about who makes our TVs.
I think you're right. It really seems like they learned their lesson from the PS3 launch. In the last couple years the PS3 has become an amazing system. As long as the PS4 is priced competitively they have no reason to do badly.
The Wii U definitely won't look as good as the next PS and Xbox. Especially when it comes to textures. Also I guarrantee Wii U won't be able to handle the advanced physics PS and Xbox will be using. The one consolation the Wii U has is that fortunately its graphics card is good enough that we'll finally be putting jaggy last gen behind us. I am so looking forward to that.
The GameCube did not sell and that was the last "hardcore" Nintendo system. I'm not blaming people for switching to PlayStation, that's where the games were. But it's not like everything was fine until Nintendo stabbed the hardcore gamers in the back.
@StrongMan
Give me a break. The hardcore abandoned Nintendo long before Nintendo abandoned them. N64? GameCube? Where were the hardcore then?
"Logically we could say that Nintendo has been at this for over 25 years, so the only for sure thing you can state is that they can and will prevail. So why not support the only system you know won't go away?"
"The third party publishers also need to stop making excuses. They need to realize the potential of a market they are missing out on..."
I agree. Good article.
I was playing ZombiU today thinking how Ubisoft is really the only third party to support the Wii U, but then they pull this Rayman delay crap. I half appreciate and half kind of hate them.
It's not the lack of exclusivity people are angry about, but the unnecessary seven month delay of the finished Wii U version.
@BitbyDeath
They paid to make Bayonetta 2, not for exclusivity. As Kamiya said, it's Nintendo's game now so they can release it on any console they want (that'll probably just be the Wii U).
(Skyward Sword is #1)
I do think it's weird they put two Zeldas on there.
Yeah, that gamespot review was pretty funny. That guy probably should have paid attention to the tutorial.
I'm not happy about the delay but the only thing I find to be a slap in the face is that "exclusive" demo. How patronizing can you get? Just release the demo on all platforms.
I agree with you guys that said it's ZombiU. I wouldn't expect ports to sell very many.
This Wii U doom article doesn't sound like a sensationalized Wii U doom article. I'm worried about this console.
Akuma...?
Petitions won't do anything. Write letters (on real paper!). There's also the #freeRayman hashtag on twitter if you want to publicly complain.
Let me explain. Now, the Wii U has no games. Rayman was the first game people were actually looking forward to. Three reasons for anger:
1. Still no games to play
2. Delayed for seven months for no reason (no Wii U related reason anyway)
3. September is already a full month for releases which means gamers won't have the time and/or money to play it
Bonus reason: Some sympathetic gamers are angry about how Ubisoft is treating their devs.
You were also promised this game in the launch window. Would you still be upset if it still came out this month but the Xbox and PS3 ports come out in Sept?
I agree. I downloaded very few VC games because I don't trust their online system. I would NEVER buy a digital version of a full retail game. Too risky for $60.
Ubisoft doesn't understand human feelings.
It says it right in the quote, Nintendo is funding the games, not paying for exclusivity. They're Nintendo's games now. If they were just paying to make them exclusive they wouldn't actually belong to Nintendo.
Edit: Just wanted to add that there's a difference between a company saying "We'll pay you to make this game for us." and "We'll pay you to not release your game on other consoles."
