I’m hoping Infinite sort of closes the 4-5 arch and then we get back to Covenant and Flood again.

Halo Wars 2 had the best halo arch this entire generation. Build on it more than 5 imo,

I meant it was solid, but not amazing. Simply used the wrong word I guess to get that understood better.

That’s like saying because Fuse was bad that SSO or Spiderman should have been bad. Although Insomniac had many, many more games under their belt before then too (which makes it that much worse as well however):

4 was solid, if not amazing, 5 was good at best—story wise, (bad to okay really, with a few good bits), but was the best multiplayer from 343 by far. Arguably some of the best in general.

Biggest question with Infinite is how it will play compared ...

Pretty far: Metro 2033 to Metro Exodus, RDR to RDR2, Alan Wake to Control, Heavy Rain to Detroit, etc all released on the extremes of this decade (give or take a year for some--but all this decade).

This Console Generation though didn't evolve as much as the last imo. Not when you compare some launch titles like Killzone Shadowfall or Ryse. Both look 'closer' to what releases today than last gen's PDZ to something like Halo 4, or Resistance to TLOU. The...

I can pretty much guarantee he wasn’t the first person to either think about or do a similar transitional project however. But its still very similar, perhaps too much so.

It doesn’t mean it was intentional however. I don’t remember the name for it, but there is a term for what likely happened—if not just similar thought processes between two different people.

More than likely though someone might have seen this clip years ago and then completely forgot abo...

Hellblade was realistically the only NT game you could say had mediocre combat imo. It’s combat and puzzles were okay, but repetitive. More on the level of ryse melee combat than their other games in a sense—so it worked, but was minimalist.

But for it being a tiny team and not the whole studio, the combat and puzzles get a pass in HB’s case imo. Their other games’ combat were much more front and center, while still having interesting narratives (if safer than HB’s narra...

I know parents like that, but they’re in the minority.

Plus with the tower design they can just say “the tall one”.

Should just call it the Xbox 4.

Tag line it with “Xbox for ____” in ads. Example: “The Xbox for gamers. The Xbox for everyone. The Xbox for everything”. Then talk about 4 generations of games to play, true 4k (games and movies), and how it ties in with streaming your library to the cloud as well as acting as Blades on XCloud service side of things too.

Just double down on 4, and how it’s more than just a console (while being a game device—not focus t...

If you managed to play Fable Legends, this sort of design kind of suits it’s overall aesthetic still. I wasn’t a huge Legends fan, but the designs for it were definitely gorgeous.

So it would be interesting to see where Fable could go if they were partly inspired by that general look and setting still. Maybe a bit more grounded, but I would never want Fable to lose all of its whimsy either.

Get me regular games first, and then worry about it later.

After all, Sony has still only really toed the line In many ways still (Vita had more and better first party support), and they’re one of the biggest VR supporters to date. So it’s probably just not quite “ready” for the masses yet.

By time this coming generation is at its prime, or is nearing its “typical completion” though, it might be time to really think about it imo. You can find VR enterta...

I don’t really want a HB2. It stood on its own well enough and the subject matter likely wouldn’t have the same impact for me a second time either.

But I really want to see what the entire team can do again after that small team’s work.

@sinspirit They mentioned how 1-2 of those “trailer” games are playable at XO on the floor. Think Grounded was one as it’s also early access I believe? So it wasn’t just a trailer for that one announcement in particular. Same (minus early access) for some other games shown for those actually at the event.

Games dropped today on Game Pass too like they often do during thee conference shows.

So sounds like someone is too busy trying to downplay conferen...

Show them running on PC, since MS does both and their first party games are Play Anywhere. Then just add “also coming to Scarlett” when they reveal it. Basically the same way they did Gears Tactics and later confirmed it’s also coming to console now.

However, I don’t mind some games being cross gen for year one especially (first 9 months anyways, before major Holiday releases starting year 2). We already know Halo Infinite will be released that way after all, and it’s by...

Spoilers of course:

I think it plays back on the Rule of Three that is pretty common in Control—the three tugs of lightswitch cords, the three key puzzle rooms of the motel, etc. So the three visions of the director’s death are in fact three separate realities in regards to the Hiss Invasion. Perhaps harkening back to Dylan’s ramblings and visions of what they showed him—namely a reality where there was but one child, and he had been a girl (Jesse as a lonely child realit...

It’s a Nintendo exclusive, pretty safe bet it’s price won’t fall much ;)

I went with Control first though since it’s out now and wanted something new after a storm took out electricity here for 2 days. Rewarding myself with a new toy after that as it’s been both dark and hot.

I don’t even waste my time giving reviews like this a click anymore. If it’s about 1-2 points off from most, then maybe. Half of what most are though just means I’m pretty much guaranteed to disagree and not worth wasting my time to see their “justification”.

Not saying they have a crap opinion, but pretty sure it’s not one I care about. Also usually just ignore them on metacritic, if I even waste time going there to begin with.

Overwatch isn’t F2P, so using it as an example isn’t really comparable. They already made cash and anything else there is extra.

The only reason anyone can play apex is because some people buy that stuff which pays the bills.

Still think it’s overpriced for skins though.

Marketing wise, it’s basically the largest global game news event of the year. So in that sense it’s probably viable still, but likely not as much as it used to be. Sony for example got talked about plenty without even showing up... because they chose not to essentially and it made them news worthy in that sense alone.

The only time video games are likely to see themselves in the news more is during announcements of new consoles. But it’s likely much cheaper than e3 due ...
