Great article. Well written. Easy to tell he loves the game. I own the game but haven't played it yet, so I can't speak about the game itself, but what I can say is that the points he makes about reviews/reviewers are valid.
It's tough to get a great score with a new game, over an established series. Some reviewers need to step back and look at these games with fresh eyes so to speak.
Gotta get that monster world collection!
How about a PSO2 announcement for home consoles!
@morganfell
That is very correct. It is true. Note that it is in my best interest for them to do well. I am a shareholder (along with sega/Sammy).
I am a diehard fan, especially to invest money other then buying the systems.
BUT I am a realist. Wouldn't you be upset if a company you loved so much as to invest money in keeps on letting you down?
Much like a sports fan of a specific team that has shining possibilities, but year a...
No one wants it to be successful? Or think the cards are too expensive?
As to my reason why I sold it, being a bit older, on the go gaming isn't for me.
I just find it weird that people disagree with comments based on fanboy-ism.
It's a great system, just not for me. No portable gaming system is for me anymore. I'm sure that many people are the same way.
I already upgraded. I sold my vita. Gaming on the go is no longer enjoyable for me. But I do hope that the Vita is successful as a system for people who enjoy it.
On topic though the price of memory cards for the vita HAVE TO come down. There is no excuse for the price being so high.
@ inveni0, like "The Last Guardian"

They can afford to keep all those studios but can't afford to keep their own employees. Sony isn't just a gaming company like many of us like to think.
Total agreement. Can't say anything bad about FF11. Period.
A lot of very good reasons pointed out in the article. I understand none of the people who frequent this site fit into the category of the "average consumer" for games. So many of these points are minor Issues for us that we can get over.
The parents buying gifts for younger children especially, and casual gamers can really be bothered by these things though. I do think that it is a part of the problem with many casual gamers going over to iPad/android gaming....
I agree with you rampaged, it is a day one pick up for me, but I can see why for lots of people being on the fence is a strong possibility. At least the scores tend to be on the higher end (6.5 or higher)
I think it's a great chance for Capcom to get into a new franchise, I just hope it sells very well for them.
@financialgamer
Because the money used to start up the gaming division and the money used for R&D comes from the entire company. The billions of dollars used to research the ps3, Vita and PS4 (or whatever it will be called) didn't come all from the gaming division.
If that was the case(just money from gaming went to gaming) there would be no way the gaming division would make much money at all. Remember Sony doesn't expect to make money from the...
It's considered a loss because Sony lost so much market share.... And THEY AREN'T MAKING MONEY AS A COMPANY. If they maintain even 50% of the market share lead they had last gen, it would change the whole dynamic of the game.
They should have started it 4 years ago. They would be making more money, and maybe they would only have laid of 5,000 people instead of 10,000. Sony makes horrible business choices. Hands down. There is a reason for new leadership...
THE OLD WAY ISN'T WORKING!
Ok, I can see your point, actually very similar to what ff7 did here in the US. GTA kinda did that for open world games like that.
*edit maybe it's just that I don't like the GTA storylines. I know many others do though.
@ neckbear. (does that mean you have a neck as thick and hairy as a bear?).
I am with you, and glad for putting up that link.
Has anyone thought that by putting 1.5m estimates how it will look for them whe. It sells over that amount? It'll be a "win" for them across the board.
Them saying this grand ole "10million" number and estimating for reals 1.5 is very smart as far as company goals goes. When they do hit over 1.5 m...
I wonder how old the writer of this article is. (many know this is coming). FF 7 did more for RPGs in the US then any other game. When it came out so many of my friends who played only sports, or platformers played and loved it.
I would put Grand Theft Auto as my number 1 most overrated game!
Edit*. The whole GTA series!
@ smashcrashbash
People didn't have the patience, people got a price drop. That changed everything for the 3DS.
We see no problem with the product Sony brings out.
Most people don't see a problem with the products Sony brings out
Financially the company is messed up. Bad leadership, horrible decisions, and here is the kicker.... PRODUCTS SO GREAT, BUT NOT MAKING MONEY.
Truth be told... I love my Vita, I love my 360, I love my ps3, I hate my wii
But products and companies that made them can be separated.

I actually think it would be great , to use this service on a console that has physical games as well. It could change how the nex ps comes to be, and could actually free up a lot of money and help Sony in the long run. It could definitely help the vita if a similar service came to that unit. It is a gamble, but one that could pay off.
