Don't think you listened to the guy, he played 16 hours and said he was taken aback at how much it's NOT a futuristic GTA, but rather a deep immersive RPG.
To be honest I don't think 'bomb' is a probable outcome. Previews have all been VERY impressive. Worst case scenario would be an average of 7/10, 70-75% Metacritic which in relative terms would be a massive disappointment but still probably worth a purchase.
That is nuts. So by the time a CoD game's credits are rolling!
True. I don't think anything like CP2077 has hit gaming before because it's quite a niche genre, yet has an enormous level of hype
I think the scale/cost of this game has dragged a lot of people who intrinsically don't like this style/genre into its world just to say 'eh this looks lame'... This game is absolutely for the types that liked Deus Ex, and on that it looks set to deliver 100%
Especially RPGs. Fallout New Vegas always looked hideous, clunky, slow and boring from the first vid shown....but is in my eyes the greatest videogame I've ever played.
There is a weird disconnect with this game because people have kinda forgotten what it is...a Cyberpunk RPG! It's not GTA in the future, or some linear action game with scripted sequences, it's lore, choice and dialogue heavy. People are going to be turned on or off by that.
I think as an adult you'd have to be pretty selfish to do that anyway. The thing is obviously a work of art, even if it's disappointing it is so obvious already how much love went into it by the team
Didn't buy so not fussed, but I am slightly frustrated how support is (assumably) going to get cut off for MW now. Absolutely love that game, Infinity Ward really put heart and soul into it and it truly shows.
Which in fact runs contrary to how most businesses operate...usually, competition domination breeds laziness.
Ubi games are very competent, well-made etc but generally have no love in them, very hollow overall.
Judging by the incredible backwards compatible performance, I'd say going through the backlog of PS4 stuff will be a treat for many...going from 30FPS to 60FPS is a revelation. Personally, I can't wait to play Assetto Corsa Competizione at 60 frames!
Hm, this doesn't really mean much though as launches are historically a bit lacking when it comes to games.
Actually, now I think about it -- the original Xbox had Halo 1 and PGR 1, they were both incredible games back in the day! I vote for that. Or maybe PS3, Resistance and Motorstorm both blew me away also.
Maybe it's just me but these launch games aren't all that impressive to me. If you are into Demon's Souls then I get it, but oth...
This site is comically pro-Sony. And I say that as someone who has ONLY owned ever owned Sony consoles!
If you like games as art rather than some service, then PS5 is only system that makes sense.
That is awesome about GT7, but I hope Polyphony is on track (pun unintended) this time!
They already are. I know it's a bit hackneyed, but think about popular music between 1920-1980, and then 1980-2020. It went from a product of artists to a product of corporations, who use anything to get $$$.
Now, I don't blame companies to be honest, because they're sating an existing appetite, but it does give me disdain for regular consumers.
Money ruins art... Actually, people ruin art, because as a collective we choose things that pervert artistry. And we do it with our wallets. It's true in music, cinema and clearly videogames.
The fact is, a lot of people buy MTs. We get what we deserve. And I say that as someone who has NEVER purchased a single microtransaction (obviously not including DLC) in my life.
Well in any case I'm very doubtful that it will be a landmark CoD game given that MW was a monumental return for the series (the first-year sales figures released last week are greatest of all time), and this is cross-gen on the dawn of next gen (much like Ghosts).
I'm sure it'll look fine, my concern is just FPS.
After reading about PS5's stellar work on upgrading PS4 titles to 60FPS, I'm definitely going to be buying one when they're back in stock.
