PC games never had today's problems 10 years ago until bull***t consoles ramped up in popularity for poor people and ruined everything.
So much this.
A year in and we have one next gen game, Shadow of Mordor.
Everything else is re-textured stuff from last gen, barely running at 30 FPS.
The game's textures are really poor on certain surfaces.
Look at a rock face on a hill or a boulder - really bad detail for a 2014 game.
But it's the same engine as FarCry 3 so...
Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty game at times, but it still has the issue of low-rez textures, no shadows at a distance, every animal or target somehow being really "bright" at a distance compared to up close etc.
But so...
I'm max level, full raid gear, only missing about 3 guns from the Raid so far, seriously.
PVP annoys me due to ridiculous hit detection a lot of the time, players dying after you do etc. That and everyone just uses auto rifles.
I have...no reason to go back and haven't played for about a month. When the DLC arrives I'll head back in again, but with Far Cry 4, a laggy Unity, GTA 5 and the insanely massive Dragon Age Inquisition...that DLC better ...
What makes me laugh is how everyone is up in arms about games these days dropping below 30 FPS.

It was widely known that Deus Ex Human Revolution had its' press version (like 1/3rd of the game) leaked online for PC, torrented left and right.
And PC pre-orders went through the roof because it wasn't a shoddy port ruined by consoles like usual.
If you make a good PC version, people will always pay.
If you can't be bothered to, why should we pay?
And console games get pirated all ...
Doesn't matter, they still don't look THAT much better than the previous versions.
Still jaggy as hell, but that's 1080p for you.
But hey, you can't convince console owners of anything obvious.

Far Cry 3 ran great on PC.
It seems Far Cry is the only series Ubisoft can't break, but then again, pretty sure FC4 is using the same engine as 3.

Haha. Hate to break it to you but Black Flag looked FAR better than this. The low textures and lack of shadows IN THE STREETS is laughable.

Morpheous will disappear as fast as 3D has done for TVs - a pointless piece of tech, too expensive, will always be there but the vast majority won't buy it.
It's certainly not the future at all.
We're down a year, still missing E3 revealed features, still got pathetic PSN crashing issues or messaging issues, still 30 FPS, still barely 1080p.
This gen has maybe 1 game that is ACTUALLY next gen so far and that's Shadow of Mordor, amongst a sea of inevitable downgrades.
I've had my PS4 since day one, and Shadow of Mordor has been the ONLY game in a year that has grabbed my full attention and surprised me at how good it was.
Lots of little touches make the game look, sound and FEEL "next gen" - not that that phrase means anything. "Next gen" is just "more effort" from the devs with slightly better hardware.
