He's right in a way. After you've been gaming long enough, the over-the-top violence doesn't "do it" for you anymore. In fact, you just find it plain pretentious and annoying, like Bulletstorm.
Eventually, you start looking for games which have some redeeming substance, such as great gameplay, story, etc.
By the way, if you want to get all the stupid teens off of CoD, change the ESRB rating to "T" and watch those annoying shits...
The story of some dude and a little girl stuck in the middle of a post-apocalyptic urban setting (how original) is depressing and doesn't interest me in the least. The graphics don't impress me either; I'm a PC gamer. Sorry, but I've had better. It's as simple as that. You can't understand if you've never seen it, and watching poorly compressed YouTube videos doesn't do justice to the difference in visuals.

I wish this infectious fad of "darker, grittier" would go away already. It's not cool, poignant, or any other pretentious crap the developers are trying to convey.
Sony is INFAMOUS (no pun intended) for showing off pre-rendered movies instead of actual gameplay (KillZone 2, FFVII Tech Demo, Beyond, TLoU, etc.).
I went PC about a year ago, and I NEVER touch my consoles now except for exclusives.
Believe me when I say there is NOTHING Sony or Microsoft can show that will impress me, graphics-wise.
For the PC, that is.
Sony fanboys need to grow up and get jobs so that they can experience other gaming platforms. Then they'll realize that The Last of Us is nothing more a linear shooter with low-res graphics and mediocre gameplay.
