Thing is, it *was* extremely short. I bought the game back in 98, played through it all on a Saturday marathon, and returned it on Sunday. That was back when Electronics Boutique allowed returns no questions asked.
I enjoyed it a lot, but a criticism I would levy against it would be it's length. It didn't feel worth $50 for one day's play.

Didn't they say that Freespace 3 would *never* be made, a couple years after they released 2? My memory is foggy on it. Would love to see it. Just don't see games of that scope anymore. A rebirth of the dramatic space-sim? Yes please.
Reviving Colony Wars would also be nice, but I read a bit of an interview some months ago from one of the original devs and he pretty much canned that idea.
I agree here. All these years go by and we simply get another expansion now? I know a lot of people love their L4D and Tf2 and stuff, but Valve is the house that Half Life built. I really do not understand why they don't pay more attention the the franchise that made them.
Nothing in that video indicates interesting characters, a quality plot, or quality of pacing. How about the rest of the soundtrack? And the combat isn't so mind-blowing either. I agree with PooEgg. Nothing to truly indicate that it's a classic-in-the-making. I have seen excellent vids of games that tanked before.

The video was not of enough quality to really tell, and part of me thinks that was by design. However, I saw nothing that convinced me that any person buying this game, regardless of platform, won't have a thoroughly great time if that's what they're into.

I have *always* had mixed feelings about it. But as I age (37 now) I am finding that I want a remake less and less. Yes, it's hard to play the original with it's blocky, early-3D graphics and midi music, but it still has the heart it always did for me.
