If you haven't played the game, you can't make that call.
LttP used to be my favorite game of all time, BotW easily trumps it.
@InKnight7s: are you... jesus, are you for real? FF15? I can't stop laughing, holy shit. And you are a) unironically comparing BotW's graphics to a PS2 game, and b) pretending as though those graphics are the only thing that matters, while ignoring so many other things that BotW did that bowled people over. Like, lmao.
@Majin-Vegeta: where did I say it has to do something new? Where does it have to do something new to be great? That said, it did do a fair few things that were new
@Eiyuuou and @Gh05t: okay, but that's *your* opinion. *Their* opinion is that it is the best. Once you both agree that it is 'great', it has passed a requisite threshold of quality, and at that point, where it falls on anyone's rankings will come down to personal preferences.
Jesus Christ, people still fall for this
Why so butthurt? BotW is a great game, and it got industry wide recognition from fans, newcomers, the critics, and developers and publishers. It deserves the praise it got. I am glad it is getting recognition, as did so many other great games on the EDGE list.
I personally think that there are very few games as of right now, if any, that are better than BotW, so I can see why it made the list.
Well deserved
Yusss Nintendo
Then it wouldn't be a half step increase over the Xbox One X
Jesus Christ, the corporate apologism is off the charts here.
EDIT: Incidentally, I agree, Sterling can be abrasive and he goes over the top a lot of the times, but I honestly can't find fault with what is undoubtedly his most restrained video yet
Which is literally exactly what the article also says!
Reading is fun
Remember how everyone lost it for the FF7 Remake logo at Sony E3 2015? Or Shenmue 3's director coming on stage to announce a kickstarter for a game that hadn't started development? Ya'all loved it then, but Nintendo (the most reliable company when it comes to following through on its announcements) does it, and suddenly it's unacceptable
xD
Ah, the salt
Of course, Metroid Prime 4 was the one and ONLY thing Nintendo had at their show. That, and nothing else. Nope. Not like they also had the best game of the show in Mario Odyssey, other new announcements like Kirby, Yoshi, or Pokemon on Switch, or cool trailers for things like Fire Emblem and Xenoblade. A logo of Metroid Prime 4 was all that there was.
Xenoblade, Mario, ARMS, Splatoon, Fire Emblem, Kirby, Yoshi, but yes, Switch is a glorified door stop all right :-3
Yup, came out of nowhere.
What a joke of an answer.
Agreed. PlayStation and Nintendo have the momentum and inertia on their side, while Xbox... needs help. Here's hoping for a great E3 showing by MS.
What technical flaws, exactly?
And why is not being a traditional Zelda game a criticism? Don't people like to call Nintendo out for sticking too close to the formula? They broke the formula, and now that is a problem too?
