Yeah good call. Don't think I've ever used a stock os. There's always lots of things I remove from my windows.
Plus lots of services to disable, and features to turn off. Bloatware, monitoring utilities, things that report info to microsoft etc.

They've been letting cell die because it would require to much work to become mainstream. In order for it to be in a new generation of super fast pc's entirely new operating systems would have to be coded for it.
Everyone that knows anything about processors knows the spe technology is the shizzle as far as power is concerned.

Cause then the release ps3 would have been 700+ dollars...
It would have been bad business to release a peripheral that would directly compete with the wii while the wii was selling so strongly in the market.
Also splitting their dev teams to working on move off the bat would have reduced amount of people available for normal games.
I think they've had it ins store because as that video shows they were running similar tech demo's on the ps2.

I think they probably had something of the sort in mind but nothing finalised.
Even when they got the concept down it wouldn't have been good to release move earlier for a variety of reasons.
Wii going strong, working on getting a good amount of regular games, getting the ps3 install base larger etc
