Who the Heck buys a freakn 360 or the soon to be released PS3 for casual gaming? FOR CRYING OUT LOUD people - Get a Grip on Life. You want casual gaming get a Nintendo! Also a "Casual" movie watcher is not going to get any HI-DEF Movie player either soooooooooo............ Stick to your Wiis and your DVD players. Stick to your PSP or your DS because that, my casual gaming friend, is casual gaming.
PS3 and Xbox 360 were "Never" intended for the casual gam...
I love gaming on my PC. To get a PC that games well you probably going to hover $1500 on up. No matter what the economy has been over the years I've found a way to always keep my PC updated and stay with the current games.
PS3 or Xbox 360 is nothing to a person who loves gaming. A true gamer will find a way to get what he or she wants. All I hear are cry babies. The Xbox 360 is a great machine. The PS3 is a Great Machine. I bought my xbox 360 last year I going to get a PS3 t...
Everything mention here in the comment section about what the news will be is everything that I would normally expect would perhaps change. I think it might have something to do with the RSX but again we haven't had news yet so that's what we would expect Sony to cough up.
Well anyway Spong seemed happy so we will just have to check in Monday to find out.
Peace.
As a matter of fact, ask most game developers. What are the two things you can never have enough of in a PC or console hardware wise?
1. Memory
2. Lots of Storage
Well, Sony and MS kind of held back on the Memory part but Sony at least gave the developers lots of disc space.
Now, here come the Xbox 360 fans crying we will never need that much space!
Yea, Yea I heard this whine and crying before from Nintendo Fans when trying to defend the Car...
Read the Anandtech article. Read countless PC tech articles from other well know PC hardware on gaming. General CPU (except the Cell) doesn't play hardly ANY ROLE in GAMING. Graphics are mostly render and performed by the GPU. General CPUs can handle a lot functions but is primarly used to control the flow of information and memory management. When a CPU has to perform a task not specifically designed for CPU computation it can get bogged down because the CPU must utilize more lines of exec...
the $400 Xbox 360 and the $500 PS3 both have similar hardware configuration for the price. I not talking about performance which quite frankly won't really be proven until a couple years into the shelf life of each of console.
Both don't have HDMI. Both are capable of displaying HD Movies but the xbox 360 needs a $200 dollar disc player addon to utilize it. This brings the cost $600 for the Xbox 360 for the same functionality as the $500 PS3.
Now if you're one of those ...
What matter is Ms an Sony take note: If you want to sell a video game this is how you do it. Awesome Video. If I didn't already have a 360 this video would definitely have me gunning for one. But then again I'm a sucker for Hardware as I will also be an owner of a PS3 and Wii.
Nice job.
"We need more gamers not haters"
Peace
My local small town TV store has the 57" Mitsubishi for $2700 free delivery and professional install) I'm finally going to take the HD plunge. This TV rocks better than any tv I've seen at any store. I think I agree with the statement that good 1080p TV sets will creep below $2000 by Mid 2007.
I have a new dual Graphic Card PC and there is a noticably good difference when running at 1600 x 1200 at the same AA, lighting, etc... verses 720p. Frame rate really isn't an is...
Pick any great PS2 or xbox game. If you could duplicated (or improve) the game play on 1080p from the 480p version and had a choice between 1080p or 480p which would most like be chosen?
No brainer. The 1080p wins everytime. Whether or not a game plays well or not is not an indication as two whether 1080p is good or not just proves whether the programmers are good or complete morons. I have a Brand new Gaming PC with dual Graphic Cards. I can play several popular Highly g...
HD has been around longer in Japan than in the US so its more of an issue than it is here. So thats in PS3's favor.
There is still a lot of unanswered questions about Wii's controller. Is it more tiring than current? What happens when you are distracted how bad is Drifting? Drifting happens even on Analog Sticks but if anybody knows anything about using a mouse in games - take your focus off for a couple of seconds not paying attention to hand movement on the mouse usually lea...

Its funny how I constantly find the only People who side with Sony is PC gamers. We PC gamers love pushing our PCs at Higher Resolutions for various reasons. 1080p is an awesome resolution and I See a difference between the two on my HDTV. I notice for some People, it takes longer for their eyes to adjust but trust me - watch 1080p (even upconverted 1080p) for six months and try to go strictly 720p and you will cringe. I'm hooked.
More power to Sony for trying instead of sett...
There are still questions as to how the Wii will compensate for uncontrol movement. I've seen several children (Including my own) that bounce, jump, jiggle, and wiggle while playing video games. I wonder how many "accidental" movements will happen in Wii. Precision control devices (such as a laser pointer, mouse/trackball) require "user awareness" much more so than the Analog sticks used on Consoles.
I often see my children and their friends struggle a bit...
$500 PS3 is a $400 dollar game machine that lets you play HD Movies in Analog for $100 more all in one neat package.
Xbox 360 is a $400 game machine that when adding a HD-DVD external for $100 or more dollars lets you play HD-DVD in a cluttered, take up more space on my Entertainment System shelve, and use up another USB connection on my Xbox 360 package.
Total $500 for HD-DVD Movie playback + Xbox 360

I swear one of the many reasons Sony was fully Supporting linux was to appease the Homebrew crowd and open up consumer programming on the PS3. Also from what information is available about the PS3, Didn't Sony say that the PS3 will have full Keyboard support including games if Developers desire - and with this full keyboard support (assuming mouse as well) couldn't you do all the programing from the PS3 without the aid of a PC. I've been using Linux for about 3 years and when open source se...
PS3 is multicore it just doesn't have 3 full cores only one. The SPE are processors just specialize processors and there are 8 of them all included with the full core on one chip. Just because the PS3 doesn't use full core doesn't change the fact that it is still multi cored. I never said Multi-Cored CPU I just said Muti-cored. Ok just for you people who just need everything spell out I will correct the first item on the comparison list.
PS3 is Multi-cored with one Full Core an...
Ok. lets assume that both the Xbox 360 and PS3 are Next-Gen and they both are very close to each other Peform wise. So is PS3 hardware really that expensive - lets look at it objectively.

Is totally rewrite the way consoles do business. Sony should just go for royalties and let the PS3 go like the PC world. Wouldn't it be great to buy a reduced size PS3 with some kind of coolant technology, or a PS3 with more memory, or dual GPU, even different box designs. Sony would still be in charge of Specifications and User Interface. Now that would really be Different.
Don't say there wouldn't be money in it because there would be you just have design your business ...
The PS3 has the ability to play Hi-Def movies and the xbox 360 does not. To properly display size and abilities one would have to put a Hi Def player next to the xbox 360 or wait until MS's Hi Def player which will probably be smaller than a stand alone player.
Basically what I saying is that despite that PS3 is slightly bigger it is still more efficient than the Xbox 360 design. Sony fans will only have to worry about the one case and not have to worry about adding an extern...
Not a big fan of the rumble feature myself - I usually turn it off. I've been playing High-end PC games for awhile and I don't miss it when I go from my console to my PC. I found that sounds move me more than feeling it and with a good subwoofer/sound system I get enough "feel" from the low end soundwaves anyways.
Of course if someone were to play on a crappy TV and use the cruddy TV sound system or have no surround system, then maybe the rumble feature would be mo...
