EA is just a whining baby. I don't considered them a power house developer and quite frankly I feel they have been slacking off due to their almost monopoly in sport titles. I have seen enough games on the PS3 to know that its not the machine that sucks its EA's development staff. How can you trust any software company that openly slanders any game console. It would be like some game developer slaming PCs using ATI GPUs because they prefer using OpenGL and generally Nvidia Cards do better w...

First of all, Shrinking the PS3 is not anything different than what Sony has done before and the PS2 did fine ( all most bought a PS2 during the grateful slim down). Get off your high horse xbots and stop flooding the PS3 forum with your stupids comments. I don't even own a Playstation yet but I just might buy one to spite xbots and Microsoft.

Well, N4G back to the drawing board. The PS3 forums get more xbots posting just to post than PS3 commenters. Wonder why the PS3 numbers ...

Its small miss quotes that kill a joke, comment, saying.

for instance.

In your bible, the xbox 360 has 512MB of dedicated ram is incorrect. The Xbox 360 shares its 512MB with the GPU. There is only one dedicated memory on the board and it is for the GPU - it's the 10MB edram
(Thank the Heavens that edram was included shared memory sucks! - integrated graphics on a PC been using it for years with not much success) - Think about it, you have a Triple Core P...

It was a store similar to Sears and JcPenny of old (not the modern water down versions of the stores you see today) . It got snuff out by the Kmart/target/Wal-marts as well as the Americans changing their buying habits).

The rest of the world still tend to like the Old school style of shopping so WoolsWorth still survives outside the U.S. Still, if Sony can pull 2-3 mil in Europe they will already be over the 5 mil mark when 6 months rolls around. That's pretty good

But none of the stores in any of the towns from here until Fort Worth have a PS3 in stock(I'm not about to drive an 100 miles one way just to buy a console - any console). However the video stores in my town already have blu-ray titles. Man that's got to suck for Rental stores when the adoption rate is on the 50% up hill climb for HD and
50% downhill climb for DVD. Having to have Two sections of HD plus DVD has got to hurt.

Back to the story...

Man I...

They want to be the next Epic and sell their game engine as well. I believe all eyes are on Epic at this point and the PS3 fan base. Epic has stated publicly that UT3 on the PS3 will be indistinguishable from the PC running at the same resolution. The only noticeable difference will come from PCs that have the AGEIA PhysX Card which even the PS3 can match when doing physic calculations.

If Epic can live up to the hype and bring out a near PC perfect Port of UT3 to the PS3 wit...

I'm waiting to see the new OSX. I'm probably going to get a Mac anyway because I can dual boot windows and use all three operating systems in a VM. If Virtual Machine guys ever get 3D drivers to work then I'll be in Heaven. I'll use the Mac for my main OS, I'll use Windows strictly for gaming, and Linux for when I need to save a few bucks and the open source software isn't offered on OSX - all without having to dual boot. Heck, I may not even need freakn Linux since KDE4 will be offered fo...

"So, Sony fans would have loved for the 360 to be delayed for a year and make an attempt to go head up with the ps3. Thats a battle sony would have won with the price of both consoles being about the same and with name brand recogntion alone"

It's the fact that the Xbox 360 has been out for a year and has only produced GoW that has allowed Sony to capitalize on MS weaknesses. Sony's Launch titles are looking pretty close to GoW and heck of a lot better than anything b...

a 3 hour movie, golf, bowling, a Race Car that goes around the same track for hours. Heck, even the more popular Football, Basketball, and Soccer can get boring.

It's all about what people find interesting. The problem with video games is that it is not easy to pin point what the audience will sit down for.

I too find that I enjoy watching others play at times but I don't have any preferences.

Sony needs to drop the freaking 20GB and sell one System. They could also drop the $600 PS3 to $500
and I can guarantee Sony would have PS3 flying off the shelves (well maybe not fly but move quickly - The amount of quality games available would hinder the fly part).

This way when Microsoft comes out with that HDMI Xbox 360 the PS3 would still be slightly cheaper. It would also leave room for Sony if the need to add another system after Xbox 360 HDMI is released. At l...

that the days of 5 year consoles are over...

There is too much pressure to be number 1 especially with HD. If for some reason this does steer PS3 customers away, Sony will counter with a price drop, 65nm cell possibly faster (I'm talking CPU here not GPU. Raising CPU specs doesn't hurt graphics that much compared to upping the GPU), bigger hard drive, more memory, or any combination of those.

If that isn't enough pressure, the GPUs are sooo out dated on the cons...

But for games, component cable should be fine. Supposedly the PS3 does have Deep Color and HDMI does support higher refresh rates than 60hz such as the upcoming 120hz HDTVs this year(2007).

Right now it doesn't make sense for Games or HD movies to support any of the higher bit colors on the PS3 right now (HDMI 1.3 supports 30, 36, 48 bit color in both RGB or YCbCr as well as the next gen color space xvYCC which is 1.8 times more colors than HDMI 1.2). While the PS3 can suppor...

In three years maybe, but comparing now is stupid. Another thing I find that is funny is how the Xbox 360 developers are so quick to to try to place GoW as a First Gen Game. Its not. I believe it goes by years. Anything released within the first year of the machine is a first Gen Title. GOW was released right on the eve of second generation so one could argue that it is first but because the quality leaps above the rest of the Xbox 360 games I place it second gen (so do others).

I believe Sony should lower the $600 machine to $500, but I believe that Sony should drop the $500 machine specs as well and give everybody the same Console, same specs - no choice. As far as a consumer standpoint it is less confusing and, in a way, both penny pinchers and those with money wins.

Those who understand the value of the $600 game/HD movie machine and are willing to pay the price are getting a $100 deal and those people who couldn't afford the $600 but could liv...

I believe the information that was tracked was from retail sales not how many Blu-ray discs are given away. The vouchers/coupons would help inflate the numbers a little but hey, that's marketing. If a percentage off gets people in the store buying movies then its working.

Can't Knock Sony for that - that's just good marketing.

Maybe HD DVD camp should take notes.

Blu-ray was put in place for the Developers. The fact that the public can watch HDTV is just a benefit. Come on people, do you really think the the dvd player one the Nintendo Wii is open source? Nintedo uses their own format which is part of their Copy Protection scheme. This is why DVD player doesn't play DVDs. They would have had to add extra hardware to allow to be able to read regular DVDs since the current player isn't compatible with their format. What I am trying to say is that Con...

Scaling in not true HD! It allows low resolution to appear as the tv's higher native resolution. A scaled 480p to 1080p game is not going to be as clean as a game written natively for 1080p. Native is always better. There are external stand alone Scalers and even some HDTV's that come with scalers. Just because PS3 doesn't have a scaler doesn't make it bad. Just means that Developers can't cheat by coding at 720p use the hardware's scaler and call it 1080p!

Well at least ...

First of all, PC game Developers don't Code to the High End Crowd. They don't need too. They would still target Mid End. The High End would still get a performance boost. This primarily has to do with GPU though and I am not talking about upgrading the GPU. CPU can bottleneck a system and can Prevent a GPU from achieving its full potential. I not asking to drastically change GPU specs but a faster CPU and SPEs could a give the GPU some breathing room and faster framerates. Also it is po...

Sorry you can't handle the truth! I believe they were nice to MS and Xbox 360 fans. They should have been more blunt. Basically, MS has shotty DVD support period. I used my original Xbox for DVD playback because it looked fantastic compared to my $200 Hitachi DVD player. So when my DVD player Died guess who took over the DVD playback duties. Yep, you guessed it my Xbox. People are idiots if they bought the xbox 360 game console that they were afraid the DVD player was going to break by us...
