and Sony's new hardware was the PS3 move. Just because Microsoft chose to present all its hardware upgrades in one year doesn't make it a better E3 than Sony's. Besides Microsoft's New console hardware looked too PS3ish. It was more "we are sort of catching up to PS3" announcement. We could rip on MS more if we wanted by saying that Microsoft needs to just suck up to the fact that blu-ray is the new standard disc format and should have upgraded to a Blu-ray Drive. ...

Just not all "Core" gamer surprises. Portal 2 was a surprise and Valve is just as reputable as Crytek is in the PC community - good to see Valve's full support for the PS3. Twisted Metal was a smaller surprise. It was heavy rumored but nothing substantial until E3 and if your are truly a PS3 aficionado it was fantastic news and the game play portion truly show of the possibility of some challenging new cooperative play mechanics.

All types of PS3 and PSP gamer...

Sony only has so much time and hardcore gamers are all over the net looking for info even before E3. Sony (and Microsoft) both have realized that the media a large broadcast news events is the only way to get the news out to the casual, and what I call "betweeners", which are gamers who enjoy both casual and hardcore type games but don't live a breath gaming.

Basically Sony balanced it out with Something for everyone. Portal 2 was a surprise as well as twisted m...

To everybody who says. Why didn't Sony do bring this or that. Sony doesn't need to bring Guns to a knife fight. Instead they brought sword to a knife fight. Sony still has games we know are in the works that could be powerhouses. Microsoft and Nintendo made it really easy for Sony to deliver a Great E3 without pulling out the Big Guns.

And how about that Entertainment aspect to Sony's E3. From the comedy spoof with Kevin Butler to the Twisted metal Stage prop, ...

Microsoft completely failed in their delivery of E3. I really thought Nintendo actually failed to impress overall. Your portable should never outshine your console......Ever. I'm not talking just graphically either. Yes I'm bias because I've not a fan of portable gaming - regardless if its 3D. Despite my bias, I'm sure portable fans think this was the best E3 ever. I beg to differ. For Wii console fans its was ok. Still better than Microsoft's E3 performance overall....

Its sad when your portable outshines your console Nintendo. Best looking game on there seem to be Kid Icarus. Even more interesting than Zelda or Golden Eye and graphically better than most of the console games for Wii. What do you get when you cross Mario, Kirby, and Little big planet...... Kirby's Epic Yarn. Obvious where Nintendo's true heart is is on the 3DS. Yes I may sound a bit critical, but I've never been a portable gaming man myself.

Too each his (...

Your method that you described using memexport function has a nickname in the Software world and its called "tiling" and is a very inefficient use of memory.

Think about the logic in your qoute ".....And when it needs more it flushes that 10 MB of data to the 512 MB shared memory via the MEMEXPORT function"

Why would you use 10MB of memory only to reuse it again a second time in the main memory. Also, yea you can flush the memory to the main 512MB...

Imagine playing Crysis (or any highend game on low end hardware). Most modern low end hardware over the last 5 years can display the the necessary pixels equivalent to 720p. (A lot of notebooks and netbooks have 1200x800 LCD screens.

Pixels (what we see on the tv) are only a fraction of what makes a game seem real. I have yet to see a PC game that can imitate the real life of my digital ABC channel which Broadcast in 720p. Yet Crysis on my PC at 1080p is no where near as reali...

I live in Pheonix AZ and Cox Cable easily surpasses this speed. I moved from Dallas/Fort Worth area during At&t's Fios upgrade but you can bet now there is plenty of Super High Speed bandwidth available even at the Mainstream price. My PS3 Wifi connection consistently tells me that I get 7MB downstream and that is at 70% signal strength so Onlive should be very usable even on my Wireless G netbooks at the house.

After all it seems that the PS3 community is putting out more quality exclusive titles at a much brisker pace than the 360 community. That doesn't look to slow down anytime soon. Developers seem to be closing in on the multiplatform differences gap so games look so close that its stupid to argue that one is better over the other.

Exclusives are the X factor now and Sony has that area locked and loaded.

Its not so much the Main Hardware (CPU/GPU) that is maxed out ...

I don't find this game very hard. Its got everything a good rpg is known for including grinding. I like that the first level is hard only to teach you that weapon, armor, and item upgrades is important and you can't win your way with basic weapons and little or no armor. Yes, its seems repetitive but if I recall during the war we had certain positions that were always manned no matter what.

If Soldier went down, it didn't necessarily mean the enemy or even our own military wo...

of course not official but would be a good idea.

Just for my two cents, if Sony does go through with it then my choice as a student would be OpenOffice.org. Most schools still require assignments be .doc with no .docx files and OpenOffice has near perfect .doc support and Excel and PowerPoint compatibility is very usable with current version.
OpenOffice has .docx support but not quite as polished as the above.

My Point.... I wouldn't need a computer as a stud...

Has nothing to do with Microsoft and everything to do with the U.S. patent system.

Now where do you think Microsoft is going to get that money? From us of course. They will also spread it out to their corporate side as well and then those businesses will charge their customers for the increase as well which will get spread out further until eventually we will pay for it again.

U.S patent system is broke big time. It allows this nonsense which always ends up hurtin...

NFL is the most Monopolistic organization that exist legally in the united states. They want ultra control over every little detail and only allow a single company to deal with with a genre of products (one official nfl clothing store, one official nfl video game developer). Madden NFL doesn't really push the limits to what both systems are capable of. Madden's menu structure and play calling is not best that can be had: but how do we know? There is no competition to show us, or the NFL, w...

There are people here saying they would pay $50 to $100 for BC. Guess what? For $99 you can get a nice small Console that Plays PS2 games NATIVELY.....

Oh, and another side benefit in case family and friends want to jump on your PS3 or they are already playing on the PS3 and you don't want to be rude you can jam on the PS2 you just bought on the Second TV. If you don't have one then get one PS2 isn't HD so those TVs are cheap to come by. If you can't afford a $100-$300 second TV...

Good News for Audiophiles. Yes, it is eventually all zeros and ones but in a perfect world this would be true and this would not be that big of news. However Bitstreams are handle different than LPCM on all receiver and not all receivers are able to give the full arsenal of extra's to LPCM such as filtering and the little glowing light telling you that your using HD lossless audio. There are many receivers out there that do allow full access for LPCM (except the glowing light of course) but ...

$150 game console/ $150 bluray player.

$200 game console/ $100 bluray player.

$300 game console/ free bluray player,

However, you want to look at it. Its a fantastic price point. Its sitting right in the sweet spot where it would be safe from bluray or console drops for at least a year. A $50 price drop by MS would be foolish at this point and still would not be enough to justify the difference (or change Sony PS3 sales growth so why lose money) and t...

World of Warcraft was originally released in 2004. Graphically computers have come along way. There should be a lot of improvement graphically to any MMO but not necessarily CGI quality. If the graphics are not that much improved than a game like WOW that will be 5 years old when it comes out then somewhere else in the game needs to Innovate to justify the cost of a new modern game. From what I see, the focus of the innovation is not necessarily the graphics but in the Voice Over and inte...

World of Warcaft can be played on any computer over the last five years no reason to really need to stream and there might still be legal concerns over streaming other platform games like super mario kart specially if this service allows anybody to be a server. Point: console owners aren't the only people a game service has to appease, it is also the developers and how it affects their wallets and the business.

Also, too much empasis has been placed on the amount of pixels use...

because most of their games suck! The few that are good generally compete with Sony 1st and 2nd party Sony Developers who get better treatment. Microsoft philosophy is to buy them not make them which works for Third Parties because of the money of course but also no worries about competition. This is complete opposite of Nintendo which is make'm themselves and screw the rest of the world which works great if your a mario/zelda/metroid fan but doesn't work that great for Third Party Develop...
