And to think that this is the first mega-boss that they've shown. Eventually we're going to have to take on the giant robots so this seems just like the tip of the iceberg ahead.
I'm really looking forward to this game. And for only $15, that's pretty cool. The action looks really fun and I'm glad they put more of an emphasis into puzzles. And the classic Ratchet/Clank humor is there. Definite buy for me.
I wonder though, without Clank, how will I glide down from tall jumps?
Battlefield 2 worked very well with 64 players, especially in the infantry only mode. I don't see why 256 wouldn't work as long as the maps were big enough. I mean, it's not like you're going to run into half the people in the game anyway. You might be busy taking out objectives on the left side of the map while they're on the right.
The FF13 was a huge shock, but it was exaggerated by fan boys from both sides. Those that have been keeping up with the industry already knew that engine was being tailored for multiplatform and Square has a history of following the money (makes perfect business sense).
But the non-bias true gamers here at N4G are few and thus the fanboys drowned them out by their useless bickering.
A PS3 fanboy will never change an xbox fanboy's mind and the same goes for the other ...
I don't understand why everything has to be a competition. Why does Sony have to make a 360 fan cry?
And let's be honest here. Ever since E3 closed its doors to the public, it's gone downhill.
Welcome to N4G. I see you've been here for about 25 minutes. Somehow though, I really doubt you have a PS3.
Even if you did have a PS3, think about it. You would just be like Square by switching over to the Xbox 360. And the only games you gain are Halo and Gears of War, but you'd be missing out on LBP, R2, KZ2, GoW3 and host of other games.
But whatever, go ahead and cut and run. I wouldn't want to run into you on PSN anyway, that is, even if you have PS3.
So Microsoft is concerned about a monopoly? Ironic, yet tantalizing.
That Little Big Planet powerpoint was very innovative and awesome.
I've been waiting for a game like this forever. Battlefield 2 was fun, but was nowhere on an epic scale like this.
In response to below (for some reason my post went on top of your's)
Sony fans have a lot to be excited about. FF13 was not the only promising game coming out.
That's awesome. I really liked those team defense maps for StarCraft/WarCraft. And it looks like Gears2 will be able to capture that kind of feel in first person mode.
I don't understand why Xbox fanboys need to go into Resistance 2 news and say R2 is not as good as GeoW2. Similarly, I do not understand why PS3 fanboys need to go into GeoW2 news and say it's not as good as R2.
Why can't both games be good? Is that really such a problem? After reading the comments from the FF13 situation, I'm sick to my stomach. We need to take back the Gamer Zone somehow.
It does look a bit inconsistent. Some parts looked very good whereas others were lacking. Hopefully they just need polishing. Even if the graphics were to remain like this for the final build, it's still looking like a really fun game to play.
I used to play a Half-Life mod called Sven Coop with my friends way back when. It was a blast, the best fun I ever had a video game. I hope R2's co-op will be able to bring me back to those days.
And what makes you say that? Give some examples to support your statement. Is it the graphics, game play, scope, scale, or to what are you referring?
EDIT: If you can't contribute anything productive, take it to the open zone.
PS3 Fanboys: Whine whine whine
360 Fanboys: Gloat gloat gloat
This would not be such a huge issue if fanboys from both sides of the camp showed a little class and maturity. Financially, it makes sense for Square-Enix to do this and at the end of the day, it's all about the money. Why do you think they make they keep pumping out Final Fantasy games? Because it brings them revenue.
I'm sorry, but all you fan boys are idiots and need to grow up. It should be evide...
That is awesome. It would be awesome if game developers could integrate it into their games. For example, in Zone of The Enders 3, it'd be cool to have your friends' video come up in the c0ckpit console during a lobby or something.
Or when your friend talks, a picture in picture video will come up during the match in the corner. It'd be like GRAW, but instead of an AI video coming up, it'd be your friend.
I like Gears of War, I just don't plain like Cliff. I wonder what he was like in high school.
I don't really care. I just use the install time to read the instruction manuals. It also gives me time to go get water and snacks to consume during gaming.
and what from today's conference gave you the slightest inkling that it will be a lag fest?
You say you would take a 20 player game without lag. Would you take a 256 player game without lag?
