why are they bothered? I thought it was all about the playstation domination these days?
They can still sell physical, Microsoft are still shipping physical, most people will still buy physical. I dont see the issue. Yes it will tempt more people to get the game pass (me included as i was planning on getting 3 microsoft exclusives this year so far).
If retailers werent ripping off the consumer with trade ins and then marking the price up double/triple the...
You just repeated what i said?? And not every game engine runs directX, i dont know where you pulled that from.
What about games that are built around OpenGL?
Ever considered that it might just be a case of their engine is utilizing DirectX12?
@spice
No but it means Microsoft tried doing something ahead of time. Which is why it was slammed by the gaming community
@Moon Vinyl is used by DJ's etc, hence why i buy vinyl still do to this date. Also the monetary value of certain albums etc on vinyl is very high as they are seen as collectors items.
Music CD's - I think i bought my last one 8 years ago, now i use a thing called YouTube, you might have heard of it.
Sony are good at that, wait for another company to pull the trigger and follow suit if it takes off
You could sell physical. Only to a select few retailers who would need to rebuy the license from Microsoft to sell again.
I do game sharing today, it's quite straightforward.
24hr check in I have done since I owned Xbox live (10+ years)
Like it or not physical media in any form will soon be redundant. Games, music, films will all be digital only in approx 10 years Max. The main reason, steam, Netflix, online music services are so mainstream today. It's coming, just be prepared when it happens
24HR check ins didn't faze me. I check in every 24hrs as it is
@s2killinit
How is purchasing Valve an unfair advantage in the console space? What has Steam got to do with the console space? How does purchasing Steam affect Sony in any way shape or form?
Well to say i normally shell out on 3-4 exclusives per year (give or take a few) this will be saving me £50-£100 right off the bat
errr no.
I cant see them buying EA. They may take Bioware off EA's hands though or purchase the Mass Effect IP.
That would be more realistic. Definately won't be purchasing Valve but PUBG Corp is most probably nearly signed off
so multiplatform developers creating a game for 5-6 different platforms must launch shocking games by that theory?
not bad though is it 10 billion dollars+ off 40 million consoles worked out at an average price of $250.
All by doing "nothing"
God help us if they do something
i wouldnt mind selling 30+ million consoles by doing "nothing"
console = manufactured by a certain company
games = created and developed by development studios seperate to the R&D and manufacturing process
i also found it boring, and nothing development wise changed in months
Won't hurt sales at all, your not buying the game you are renting it.
I cant remember the last time i went to a brick and mortar store to buy a game. I just order online or buy digital
