Because Skyrim is available on PS4
Xbox does not suspend MP games into quick resume, this is the same with any online game, the game will need to be restarted each time, it is literally impossible, to keep you connected to a server once the console is shut down.
Thought people would know this by now.......

Maybe they were shooting you in the body, and you had better accuracy "shrugs" it is not like COD or other twitch shooters, where shooting a blade of grass will grant you a headshot

Your obsessed with this "paywall" statement, that paywall is £10/$10, for the lifetime of the game, a one-off payment, progression has been addressed and improved, just deal with it and move on.
The good thing is, the battlepass ($10) is a lifetime pass, and once they add new tiers/items/seasons, more and more unlockables will be available, this is just the Beta items, and everyone is acting like 343 came into their home at christmas and left a steamer on the dinner table.

That is why they normally go off active players, as opposed to a 5 minute tryout.
If there is a high engagement and activity on a game, it creates better opportunities for profit and monetization down the road, with no initial sales needed.
P.s. if Asphalt 3 has a current higher player count than the recent COD, then yes it would be currently more popular.
