Halo 3 will beat Crysis on sales no problem.
I say this knowing I will certainly prefer Crysis (I am on one of the mod teams for it Obsidian Edge 2) and I can say its amazing.

I thought the beta was POOR.
The graphics are looking dated, and the gameplay is no better (or worse) than Halo 2.
Not my type of multiplayer game, but the SP game may be better graphics wise, although i can see no reason why they would hold back on this for a beta as I have played many Betas over the years and normally the graphics dont change at all.

I just bought a really nice DVD player with HD late last year, it upscales too 1080i and it looks absolutely cracking on my 42" plasma, so I have no need or want of a new HD format.
I think HD will take over eventually, but not until the prices drop below the £200 ($400) mark for a player, which ALSO plays normal DVDs, and perhaps even dual format.
Ubisoft are a PUBLISHER, they dont MAKE games they SELL them to the high street! So banging on about how their quality of programming has decreased is not in their domain of responsibility.
He is utterly correct, PS3 WILL use a large share of their market this time, and so they should, I would much prefer a 3-way fight than another sony console dominating the market, because at the end of the day:

M$ also lost a lot of money on the 360 for the first year...this is ALWYS the case with a new console, even going back to the 8bit days.
All the people crying for a price cut shoudl just go and buy a 360 which will have the same experience essentially game wise as a PS3, its like apples and pears...

@ FCOLitsjustagame - In gears I believe the jump is used for getting over walls etc mainly...I believe real soldiers do have to do this...and this isn;t exactly a combat sim anyway is it!
The cost of creating games has gone up hugely in the last few years, I remember seeing the bonus round on gametrailers.com where they actually talked about the need to increase the cost of games further! This is why we see innovations like map packs etc. so the publishers can wring a few more dollars from consumers without shelling out a lot more money...we're going to see this kind of thing more in the future..

The Wii saw huge demand because its still very hard to buy in a shop so people are willing to pay over the RRP.
I think its madness for people to buy a 360 on Ebay, you wont save much and if its second hand you probably wont get the warranty.
PS3 sales I can understand since the console is so expensive and people are looking for a deal.
I dont really care who wins the HD-DVD race, I am more interested in playing games, and certainly for the foreseeable future the 360 seems to offer the best range of titles at a good price.
The Wii shouldn't even be included in this race it targets a completely different market, and is much more about casual gaming. The 360 and PS3 are targetting the same hardcore market and at the moment the 360 is already much cheaper than the PS3 so I although it would be great if the price dropped, MS has only started making a profit with the console so I can only see this happening nearer christmas, perhaps with the Elite taking the Premiums current price point.

This is a NO BRAINER, of course the PC will look superior, particularly if its a DX10 card running at a high resolution, but this is also much more expensive than a 360.

Awesome game, I had a lot of fun exploring the zone, even if the PDA and management of tasks wasn't great, its still the most atmospheric game world I've seen.

Michael Pachter is pretty knowledgeable and this statement is in fact a bit of a turn around for him as I remember him saying previously he thought that sony's long term plan would make them king of the consoles by 2010. He's obviously been keeping an eye on the sales, and they haven't been even what he was expecting.
