You don't know that for fact. A new Playstation other than the NGP? No, I will agree with you there. But a new Microsoft offering? You can't say that. You don't know.
Honestly..I think a lot of the PS4 adoption (Early in the least) will hinge on Backward Compatibility with PS3 games. Not necessarily the PS1 games that the Slims will play, although that would be a bonus. The price point is definitely one I would like to know as soon as possible once it's officially announced.

I'm buying an NGP and there will always be bad games on every platform, but thanks to the high cost of development, hopefully we will see less bad games. Remember Back To the Future on the NES? Classic movie, terrible game. Looking forward to the AWESOME launch titles slated for NGP.
A good economy or not, everyone is still buying Smartphones, and they will still buy 3DS and NGP. People can still reserve the hardware months in advance and it doesn't feel like such a drastic hit to their wallets.
