There's lots of factors, no doubt about that. Still, whether it's right or wrong there's a lot of weight put on dev teams in regards to a game's Metacritic average.
Personally, I think if more reviewers truly learned how to use the 100 point scale that a 70 or 65 would be a bit more respected. Unfortunately a 70 (which should be considered above average to good) is basically considered dog shit and sends buyers running.
I don't know about conspiracy theories but I will say that all the low numbers surprised me. Still, I stand behind my score 100%. I took the experience for what it was meant to be and didn't look for things that RaD never intended to include.
People of course have already jumped down my throat yelling that the fix is in or that I'm paid off and while I'd love to make some goddamn money doing this (although not in that manner) it couldn't be further from t...
I happen to have it on good authority that he blogs from a fancy upstairs apartment.
Jokes aside, you can cuss and act like a child all you like but it's not like he's saying anything that's not true. The dude is a PS hardcore and all he's really asking is when he'll see features he's accustomed to using hit his PS4. His argument surrounding Plex poses a very real question of whether or not we'll truly see free streaming too. Sure there's been ...
I don't think they've forgotten ALL innovation but they've certainly gotten lazy with their AAA titles. Games like Child of Light and Valiant Hearts, which were two of my favourite experiences in 2014, are full of imagination. Hell I even give a bit of respect to The Crew... it had some great ideas but the connectivity issues I came across really spoiled the experience for me.
I don't think Ubi is beyond hope. They just have to listen to their audience and st...
Totally agree! As stupid design decisions go this one is right up there. What puzzles me most is that there had to have been a way to make it easy. There's no way this was the only solution.
Lol, he doesn't own the store. Doesn't even work there. The guy who helped shoot the video does and figured it would be a suiting spot. Bottom line, COG doesn't give a rip if people buy it or not... just a comparison video!
I like the quirky categories! Much better than the standard "Best Shooter", "Best Platformer".... boooooring!
Can I just say how nice it is to see intelligent debate on an N4G article? Great points brought up by all commenters so far.
Good luck!!
It's not an article is it? It's straight up news.
They do point out that they're timed exclusives or exclusive in the console market in the write-ups. Gotta get past the headers son!
GUYS, I WANT ALL OF THE THINGS.
EVERY GODDAMN ONE OF THEM.
As evidenced by a lot of the N4G populace I feel pretty good about saying yes... haha
Lol, entitled gamers tend to do this sort of thing.
THE THING YOU GAVE ME THAT I DIDN'T HAVE TO DO A DAMN THING FOR ISN'T THE THING THAT I WANTED! Waaaaaaahhhhh!!!
It's a follow up piece, I say no harm no foul. I dunno, I think reading the way that the owner tried to lie his way out of trouble is kinda interesting.
99.9% of games you see on mobile tend to be a rehash of something we've already seen before. Add on the fact that what we've already seen tends to be pretty simple in terms of gameplay or variation. Perhaps people are getting bored with what often ends up being 'same game, new skin' products?
So it seems painfully obvious that you didn't get past any of the headers cuz well, they DO kinda mention the whole timed exclusivity thing.
And where in the apparently misleading title do they mention 2015? I've looked like a hundred times and I just can't see it! I do however notice where it says '2015 and BEYOND' in the description! WEIRD RIGHT!?!
I'm not in love with AW but I'd second FH2 for one of the best this year! I've had a lot of fun with it. Honestly though, no list will really do justice to all the great games that came out this year. There were a lot of downs sure but if you dive into every nook and cranny there were a ton of great gaming experiences in 2014.
The article doesn't call out Steam at all. It actually says the same thing you just did! Steam has every right to do what they want. Still, the argument of whether or not games deserve to be treated as uncensored art is still out there. I think this whole situation just brings the debate back to the forefront of people's minds.
In a sense you're right, luckily in this case people are ignoring the negative reviews of the game. Still, the point being made that a simple number can't encompass a game's worth is true. Without taking the time to read the accompanying review how do you know your thoughts line up with the reviewer?
That is how scoring can be harmful... when people look at the number and no further.
