I think trade ins are rather stupid to be honest. You get hosed. I'm looking to sell my pristine Wii, and with 2 controllers and 3 games they offer a whopping $178. No thanks. People should just be smarter with their purchases.... and I should have never bought a Wii. ;-)
I wonder if the departure of people like Ken and Phil means the next PS will be more... well, un-PS like. Simple to program for, TONS of Ram, a real powerhouse that can easily be exploited, but won't cost an arm and a leg...

I think he makes a valid point. Smash Bros will sell very well, but look at highly awaited titles like No More Heroes, which flopped in Japan and did so so in the US. The Wii really is a casual system. Games aren't selling nearly as fast as the system is, and that's where the trouble lies.
Ah, InMyMom is right. I still disagree, as the 80gb PS3, which is $500, is outselling the $400 model almost everywhere. And the double standards on both sides remain. It's sad.
I like your idea, I think the arcade model is a joke. Harddrives should be standard. Would definitely make cross platform development interesting.

Well that was an amazing post. If only all gamers were as smart as you. These system wars are being prolonged by the media, and people play into it. Sad. I can go to a friends house and play Halo 3, and have fun, or play CoD4 at home, and ALSO have fun. That concept seems to elude many people. But I can also look at games objectively, no matter what system they are on, and push the hype aside and look at quality. There is more to a timeless game than just sales... You basically put into words...
The ORIGINAL Halo did a lot for console FPS (though I stand by Goldeneye 007 being the true innovator) but Halo 3 was overly meh in all departments. I think Call of Duty 4 is the best FPS available... but no game is a "killer." You can enjoy both titles, there's no law against it.
I do think Resistance 2 will be a better title than Killzone 2 or Halo 3 though personally... they just need to tighten up the controls to CoD4 level.
