Say that to the people who bash games like Resistance. Heh. But I agree with you.
Yeah I would like to know this...
Both were reportedly PS3 footage. Did one crash look better than the other? Was the "Ps3" footage washed out like always compared to the "360" footage? I'm curious.
I agree. It's hilarious watching them tell gamers to stop being fanboys or heavily invested, yet they use such baiting tactics to get hits on their sites, with inflammatory and pathetic "articles" that do nothing but heap on the bias and flames.
No no, what I am saying is, I want MGS4 judged on the merits of itself, and scored accordingly. If it scores a 10, I want it to be because it deserves it, not because of $ or because its a major hyped title (like Halo 3). At the same time, if it deserves a 5, then give it a 5, but don't give it a low score or knock it simply because its a PS3 title. And let's be honest, that bias is still incredibly prevalent in the media today, this week just goes to show that.
I hope MGS4 scores well because it deserves it, not because its a major PS3 exclusive or any other stupid inflating factor. Then again, for some reason the media hate still exists on excellent games like Ratchet and Clank ....... 7.5? Are you kidding me?
I think people, especially the "casual" consumers, need to stop taking ANY review score as fact and make their OWN opinions. Scores should be abolished since people use the arbitrary number to judge instead of inform, without reading the actual CONTENT of the review.
I decide what I like, not IGN, Gamespot,or any other $$$ driven site.
Told you. They would claim that their statements were true, and the error was simply in the video content used.
Predictable. Honest mistake? Maybe. Biased site? I'd say so, the RGB Full and HDMI usage being "unfair" to the 360 is a joke of an excuse.
Man, Kotaku sounds so butthurt. What's with the continuing PS3 hate? They use any excuse to knock it. Game journalism, still pathetic.
I never ran into any framerate or slowdown issues, just lag.
I believe maps are scalable a la Warhawk. So if it was a few people in a large map I could see that being an issue.
He has a point. Regardless of intended fanboyism, the MS marketing machine is a powerful, pervasive one that can make ANY game look like "the next big thing." And people will swallow it, regardless of how good it is. That is NOT to say all the 360 games are crap, far from it. But the leeway given to many games, especially with the rampant bias in the media against the competition, is quite obvious I must say.
Then again, review are opinions, not facts, and people still...
MGS4 I'm sold on, I have no doubts it will be an amazing game. However, MGO itself still has some issues to iron out.
+ Great visuals, framerate, effects
+ Great controls
+ SOP system is great
+ It's certainly Metal Gear in Online form
- Slower game speed enforcing teamwork may turn some players off
- Still too much lag for "serious" play
- Body damage too weak, its headshot or GTFO often
I wonder if this will be the 360's "Haze." By that I mean a long delayed, highly publicized game from a highly talented developer, that is getting mediocre to poor writeups thus far, and everyone expected to look like a visual powerhouse for the system.
I started with console FPS with Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. Then I didn't bother until Resistance, since I couldn't get a good grasp of dual analog until I forced myself. Now, man... CoD4 was my favorite game in a while... but the amount of FPSs is staggering. Each one needs to really do something to separate it from the pack, or be lost in the pack.
Impressive visuals, but looks no better than Ratchet and Clank Future. And they certainly borrowed from Little Big Planet's design background.
Thing is, Rare has been pretty crappy ever since MS bought them. I'd love to see this as a return to form.
Sadly the exact opposite is true on every other website.
They'll say their comments remain true, they just used the wrong footage, chalking it up to a technical error.
I much prefer "real" screenshots like these to the doctored up, insanely high resolution and AA/post processed "official" photos that game companies put out these days. (God of War 2 had a resolution in release photos to rival a 360 game.)
Gears 2 looks good, but has that nasty plastic U3 engine look still. I just hope the gameplay is better.
Game "journalism" is a joke.
Thank you for adding some lulz to my night.
