360 games started off at £49.99 at launch because it's a new console....competition will kick in, and the prices will quickly settle down back into the regular £40 RRP.

Always avoid Game as a general rule, their prices stink compared to online retailers....stick with them and supermarkets and leave the Game shopping to those who don't know any better.

I don't get why people think this console has what it takes to "take over the living room". It doesn't do anything especially innovative....anything it offers seperate from gaming is readily available on other, cheaper platforms like Apple TV...or even built into numerous Smart TV's.
The focus on live TV is kind of quaint considering the market has been moving towards TV on demand and streaming content rather than live broadcasts. Live sport will never go away ...

Helps to discourage piracy and the modification of consoles as well. Any official sale is better than seeing a consumer have to open up the road to piracy in order to play a game they want. Some companies (Nintendo....I love ya, but get with the damn times) are very set in their ways, and don't realise that their inaction could lead to greater losses down the line than a single sale of a game in a region.

There is no solid justification for region locking. It promotes the idea of piracy because certain games seem to take forever to be localised, if they ever are at all. There's cases of Wii RPG's that are released in Europe, but not the US, despite the English localisation being completed. How can it possibly be a good thing to restrict people from importing games they want to play, when you have no intention of releasing in a particular market, or take a stupidly long time to get a...

Since when does voice recognition need a damn camera? So the main justification for a camera is the microphone? Really? Any microphone would do the exact same job. The Playstation camera at least serves some purpose with it's tracking of the Move....but Kinect is almost entirely worthless for gaming, except for the microphone. And even that isn't as accurate or fast as simply pressing a button for a command.
What a massive waste of time and money Kinect is. The Playstati...

The largest benefit of cloud computing is for the developers and publishers, because it becomes a kind of always online DRM. The actual benefit to gamers will be minimal.
I'd be happier if neither system had cloud functions because it will simply encourage DRM.

Agreed...what an abysmal looking game. It's an insult that Deep Silver are charging any amount of money for it.

Watch the Giant Bomb Quick Look video if you want to know how bad it is. It's an hour and a half long, but it's worth it to see the awfulness of that game...especially the shoe-horned sex scenes that look absolutely ridiculous.

Steam has a lot of competition from other vendors, other services like Origin and Uplay, and tons of competition that try to undercut each other, even when selling Steam codes.
MS would have had no such competition on their closed system. If you seriously thought you'd be seeing reduced pricing and Steam sales on Xbox One...well I don't know what to tell you other than MS confirmed that prices for their One games would be $60. With reduced options in terms of selling, rentin...

Microsoft flat out stated that their games would cost $60 for the One. And this was before they reversed their restrictions. They would NOT have reduced prices because of these restrictions, people thinking otherwise are living in a feverish fantasy land because they had dreams of Steam-like sales dancing in their tiny minds. That was NEVER on the cards, by MS' own admission.

As for used games, publishers and developers have no right to any cut of games sold or traded ...

I immediately think of that episode of the Simpsons with the internet cartoon company paying Bart Simpson with worthless stock. Zynga aren't too far off, their bubble is close to bursting.
Especially if Mr Mattrick is allowed to talk for them because, frankly, whatever magic he worked for the 360...it's long since deserted him. I don't think he could have been more incompetent during the One reveal fiasco if he tried. In fact, maybe he WAS actively trying in order to ge...

@die_fiend, nobody deserves to be milked for $60 based on false advertising. Stop blaming consumers for the crappy actions of the developers and publishers.

Making a half-decent product at some point in your existence doesn't justify his subsequent actions....at all. Gamers like you and MeKissGaben are the big problem in this industry...letting big companies get away with all sorts of anti-consumer crap while slamming other gamers in an effort to excuse it.

No, the alternative is to actually stop lying and actually show the game that you're actually developing....instead of some idealised version that you know can never exist.
If your game is rubbish, well, that's on you...it's not our problem, you don't get to misrepresent the final quality of your game.

@ape007, they are not almost equal in the least.

The CPU is the same....that's it. The PS4 GPU is 50% more powerful than the One, and the PS4 will also have 7 gigs of memory free and usable for games, while the one will only have 5 gigs of it's 8 free due to the multiple operating systems the console will be running simultaneously.

Both systems are capable of cloud function as well. I'm sorry, but you're flat out wrong.

Not really...navigation systems serve a useful purpose. The most useful thing Kinect does is voice recognition, and that could be achieved by a cheap microphone as voice recognition is all in the software.

It's all very cool sounding to tell it to change channel for you, but it's actually far faster to simply use your TV remote to do that...or even the Xbox controller.

Kinect - even when more accurate like the new one will be - makes simple tasks tak...

That's not really that great a reason to want the Kinect. If that's the one you're going for, then great, but what does Kinect really offer for games? I'd argue it's best function is voice commands, and those could be handled by a cheap microphone or webcam.

For actually controlling a game in any sort of useful way...the Kinect is pretty lame. Novelty factor is high, but that eventually wears off and leads to abysmal games like Steel Battalion.

Yes....but only when some exclusives I really want come along. And there would need to be a decent amount of them, because multi-plat titles will most likely have a slight edge on the PS4. Both systems are similar in many ways, but the better GPU in the PS4 (and slightly more complicated architecture of the One, with it's Esram adding an extra complication) and the greater available memory for games (3 gig of the Xbox's 8 gigs of memory are taken up by 3 operating systems) lead me t...

Movies, music, games etc. never create violence, but they can influence it in the minds of those predisposed to violent behaviour for whatever reason.
An otherwise normal/rational person does not sit down to watch a movie and become a violent killer, or play GTA and decide to go steal cars and mow down pedestrians.
Those capable of being influenced to the point of acting on it are the vast, vast, VAST minority....it's why it makes little sense to argue for bans on violent ...

The NRA are ridiculous at this point. They call games "murder simulators", yet they go out of their way to promote lethal weaponry, show people how to use it and keep it operating at maximum efficiency. Their lack of self awareness is amazing.
I've played games for 25 years now, countless FPS games and beat em ups, and yet I'd have no idea how to properly load and use a gun, or even how to properly throw a punch without hurting myself.
Games are not simulat...

Games and movies CAN inspire violence, but they cannot CAUSE people to become violent. If that were the case, there'd be tens of millions of murders every month with the violence shown in movies, on TV, in games, in books and even violent imagery in art or in music lyrics.
It cannot be argued that games cause violence, I can understand people hurting and wanting a scapegoat to place the blame on. But the fact is, they already have that scapegoat...it's the person who committ...
