TBH, the negative reviews are fair. The game has a pretty big flaw in matchmaking, and in this generation of MMO, the matchmaking for instances needs to at least be there.

I like your review even though I really like the game. You made clear of why you didn't like their decisions. You made it especially clear that the online is lacking, and it is. It's because there needs to be a better match making program somewhere in there. A quick poke: in your con list, I think it would be better if you said "weak" MMO elements instead of just "MMO elements." Also the same poke to the vague "shooting" in pros.

Yeah, I'd even say it was pretty good. I liked the time/area jump that was similar to KH world jump format. Having pets in a game are almost always a plus.
However like 13-2, Lightning Returns won't get a fair shake among us western gamers. It just won't. Unless it blows reviewers out of the water in a GOTY type of fashion (it won't), it'll be treated like the latest DmC (not given much of a chance).
Actually, the best (by far the most memorable) part of FF13 was when Snow got punched to the floor.Snow was much more bearable in 13-2, though.
I'll agree that Lightning isn't that good of a protagonist. I liked her much more as the transcendent and "power" role in 13-2 similar to maybe Auron, Mickey (KH), etc.. It seemed much more natural.
