It has a very low latency, so for some very specific jobs it will shine. The thing is you will need to be very specific and program for the hardware. So operations that require a lot of small reads and writes, which need to be done as soon fast as possible.. it will shine.
Again that is latency, not throughput.

Only out of touch with the Free 2 Play Generation that loves Micro transactions and being a total dick to each other. For those people there are consoles like Xbox One or PS4. The rest of us will find Wii U, at most they need to rename that thing (As that Name is not a good one), but once it further goes down in price it'll become the impulse buy of this generation, where as the other two will not be on the family gaming list for some time.

Starfox is a western game by origin. A British team started on a 3D game for the NES, showing what they could do. That eventually turned into StarFox. They also designed the SuperFX chip.
Also don't forget almost no Micro transactions! You buy the game it is yours! :). And readily available, fun to share with friends and free Online!:D

A Socket is only a means to connect a CPU to it's mainboard, If AM3+ has the pins to fit it does not need to be replaced. Your statement of it being "Old Garbage" is thus factually incorrect. Now if the new sockets would have more, or less, pins then one can think a company might change the socket, but with less pins there might not even be a need for that. The pin layout can also be different, if it would be more work to adjust the old socket to the new layout then they release...
This game, and Knack as well, seem to get a lot of undeserved negative press.
