The Xbox was more "powerful" then the PS2, does that mean that Sony had to :"disrupt the cycle!". Heck no, it was MS that had to end it far before it was needed.

Indeed the amount of buzzwords this generation is staggering. From bandwith addition until this kind of crap.
Yet the Saturn and N64 had far more interesting games, true if you where into what is popular then okay... but some of the obscure titles on the Saturn justified a purchase alone :).
Burning Rangers was a shitload of fun :).
It also doesn't take into account that the amount of people owning 2 or 3 consoles is also higher then ever. So the "has one of the three brands" people actually are getting smaller and smaller in numbers.
A lot of gamers just get all three after a few price drops. It is why the last generation was such a success compared to the one before it.

That's bullshit, if you do not get an Intel CPU and know what you're buying, you can easily pass the PS4 for under 500 dollars.
People are just so addicted to Intel CPU's of 250 big ones, even though the PS4 only uses a Mobile CPU, okay 8 cores but still the amount of cores don't matter as much as what each core can do.
But you certainly do not need 1000 bucks to build yourself a PC that can beat it.

I'm a Wii U gamer at heart, have been in the Nintendo camp ever since the Dreamcast ended and I got a gamecube. Yes I did enjoy the first xbox and the first few years of the 360 before it became a "Gamer station for the Bros".

Jup, and it doesn't seem like they'll stop. It's how Digital foundry ruined the last generation, and they'll be damned unless they can ruin this one as well. As the amount of creases in a man's jacket is really important and why Dead Rising 2 was so much better in gameplay on the PS3 ;).
And those few extra pixels and slightly higher textures the 360 had? Totally made the 360 version of Skyrim unplayable!
