You can build a gaming rig for under $800 that does more than just game.
It can run the entire Adobe Software suite including After Effects, Photoshop.
It will also run Maya 3D and others programs like it.
Games on consoles also cost a lot more than the very same PC game. Not even taking into consideration STEAM where you can buy triple A games for $10 at times....that same game will cost you $50+ on a console....
Then when you add up the cost of spend...
I play quite a few of my PC games on my HDTV using my Xbox360 or PS3 controller...
Now if you ever use Eyefinity or Nividia's multiple monitor setup..trust me...you will NEVER look at Console gaming the same way ever again.
That setup will run you now less than $600..maybe slightly more as it has more ram.

You're being unfair to consoles because NO FPS game on consoles NOW OR COMING OUT has the features you just listed with the REAL TIME effects and Destruction of BF3.
It's obvious if you want the full experience the PC is the way to go.

Actually they are selling more than Sony world wide.
If you look at the numbers officially released by Sony and Microsoft for their respected fiscal periods just recently, Microsoft numbers are higher.
These are COMPANY released data and not from......as I will say below.....

Microsoft's and Sony's OWN financial numbers released not too recently detail World Wide numbers for their consoles...
And Microsoft is actually ahead based on those official COMPANY NUMBERS of recent.
It will crush it...for the 12 year olds that need aim assist and love a 5 year old game engine.....
MW3 runs smooth at 60fps because it uses a ancient game engine with ZERO real time lighting or real time effects and NO destruction.
It's like making a FPS game using the Quake 3 engine that is older than the PS2 and Xbox1...Oh wait.....
The problem for Sony is more multi-platform games are released in a calender year than exclusive games for the sheer fact that there are more 3rd party developers than there are 1st/2nd Developers. And time and again those same multi-platform games sell more units on the Xbox360 than the PS3...
and since there are more of them released than Exclusive games in a calender fiscal year, MS is making more money than Sony with them.
Which results in more consumers purchasin...

The majority of games released in a calender year are multi-platform games. The average gamer for the most part does not even know about some exclusive games...
Look at the sales of most PS3 exclusive games to multi-platform games on the PS3 to detail this.
You might see 8+ full retail games for any console released in a calender year...
Multi-platform games released during the same time are 5 times as much.

The truth of the matter is Sony had two consoles out of three that had designs flaws and were unreliable...BOTH of those consoles had issues with heat and disk drive trays etc.

MAG's graphics are mediocre. There is no getting around it. The physic engine is basic in comparison to other FPS games and the environment is not interactive at all.
It does not use real time dynamic lighting or real time soft shadows. Matter of fact MAG uses no real time effects like BF3 does.
It's slightly above PS2, Xbox1 graphics.
It's silly to bring up MAG or even RFOM to BF3 when it comes to questioning why the PS3...

If a PC using an AMD 5870HD or Nvidia's 580GTX running an i7 Intel Chipset with 6 gigs of Ram almost maxes out Metro 2033 on a PC gaming rig, how the hell do you expect a 5 year old console with an aging 5 year CPU/GPU with 48GB/s of total bandwidth and its inability to run shader model 4.0 or 5.0 or tessellation or advanced pixel/vertex shader computations to run the game then????
I have yet to see ANY game look like Me...
