The thing that separates the SNES/Genesis generation and the current one is that the older games have a lasting appeal. Go back and play Tomb Raider for PS and you'll just want to vomit after twenty minutes. Same thing will happen to this generation of games.
Exposing the game to a younger generation is why I support it. You ask how is a remake fun. Think of it as watching a favorite movie in black and white, and then into color. I'm sure there is a movie that you've seen more than a few times.
It's changed quite a bit just going from BF2 to BF3. The creation of the Frostbite engine and the new Frostbite 2 engine is what I was talking about with pushing the envelope. I wasn't looking for the reinvention of the wheel.
I also don't consider game modes $60.00 worth of improvements. The Call of Duty franchise has really gone downhill since leaving WWII behind.
I think they're starting to catch on though. Unless Infinity Ward adds vehicles or a new engine I don't think even the die hard fans will be happy.
I just hope DICE come out with a good marketing campaign. That's half the battle right there.
Not "stop making" games, but start making them. I've bought every COD since number 3 and honestly I don't see how more people aren't pissed. They haven't pushed the envelope since COD4 and have been riding those coat tails ever since. Every dollar you spend is an endorsement of what you want the market to become. It's been COD4 since 2008.
I enjoy the occasional COD, but I don't like to see lazy developers get rewarded for rehashing the same game. IF this game is more of the same then rewarding the developers will just entice them and others to take the quick and easy way out. Not good for gaming as a whole.
The $59.99 price tag makes it hard to buy new especially when you can expect to spend $35 on DLC. What irks me is that some of these half-assed games still cost the standard $60. Price games at $40 and I'll buy new more often.
@Battle
Could happen but I seriously doubt it. I read an article a while back saying that if Apple was going to buy out anyone it would be a company like Phillips.
Didn't want to read the spoilers, but if the game ends with my character on his back bleeding to death while I desperately try to get a fatal blow on the main bad guy again...
We're still probably ten to twenty years away from phasing out optical drives. It would be nice and probably convenient, but it's just not going to happen anytime soon.
I see your point, but don't buy the whole "it's okay to be fat" argument. Its not. Being fat causes a host of other health concerns. I like his games too, but seriously if he doesn't watch his cholesterol, then there will be no more games.
Ugh I remeber that ugly price tag too well; I actually bought a PS3 the week after launch. Anyone who spent the original $599 can tell you that the really great games didn't come out till after the price drop. Still though, not too many people have working 60gig fat models anymore.
Yeah, the right choice for Sony
Homefront was definitely overhyped. The developers gave the impression that you would be immersed into this guerrilla warfare resistance across the west coast. Instead you just run from point A to point B, hit X, then run back to Point B all the while holding down RT. Don't know if it deserved the #1 spot though.
Agreed, but I don't know why people throw around the word "ripped off" so freely. I mean I don't care if a developer finds inspiration in another game so long as they add their own elements to it. Carbon copies are the only rip offs IMO.
Why? He has the power and money to do something about his health.
Woah dude, dial that back about 9 and I'd agree with you.
Bullets never go "straight." Try firing a REAL bolt action rifle. It's hard enough to hit a target when using iron sights or a scope, but darn near impossible with the gun at your hip, not even running. No quick scopes, rare no scopes. How about making the normal black around the scope view a little transparent and 1x.
Isn't the limited edition the standard $59.99 version anyways? Or are they just talking about an actual limited edition version that hasn't been assigned a proper name yet?
I like the setup (especially the wires, I may copy this with my sound system), but I agree with mounting the PS3 so high up. I get nervous just standing my PS3 upright, let alone elevating it almost 5 feet in the air.
