Omran I would be very disappointed. But I'm a grown up that understands that even games are a business. I look at the big picture. If Rockstar needs the money and Sony is willing to give it to them then I get it. If you look through my history of comments I've always taken into account how something effects the company. Well almost. I look at all of the developers that have gone out of business. You'll see that for years I commented that a lot of the exclusives people cry for caus...
Cloud you mean PlayStation fanboys will throw another tantrum. There's not much fuss made when it's the other way around. And since Mass Effect started on Xbox they won't have a leg to stand on. Then again, they've never needed one to feel justified in their rage.
I'm not sure why people are disagreeing with Blackouts comment. It is true that when it comes to retail, the US is the most important market. At the same time, it's nothing to brag about. In a country with so much personal debt, you would think we would be a little more careful. But no. Poor people have $200 sneakers and a empty refrigerator. Middle class have two cars and zero life savings. Rich people have pockets full of money but miserable lives. And a bunch of politicians in thei...
There are some truly pitiful people in this world. So vested in this console"war" that reality has ceased to exist for them. All of the companies discounted and bundled their products. It's business. No need to fold your arms and hold your breath.
But personally I thought, or think the Wii U might come out on top for the holidays. I work at target and it seemed we couldn't keep them in stock. And Nintendo did a better job of supplying consoles. We would get...
Sony fans act as if Microsoft was the only company offering bubbles. Sony offered bundles, gift cards and price breaks during the same period. PS4 bundles were sold at Target with 15% off. So that is $340 plus a choice of one of four games, Batman Lego or GTA V. They also offered $50 gift cards. So it's not like it wasn't a completely slanted playing field. Nintendo offered Mario Kart and Nintendo land plus $50 off.
The real interesting thing will be what happens late...
I had a woman make a comment to me about gaming just a week ago. I asked her what she liked to do. She replied that she liked movies and plays. My reply. So you like to watch people play dress up. Stopped her dead in her tracks. After a ten second pause she had to admit yeah, she pretty much did.
There are plenty of things so called grown ups do that are completely ignorant. Playing games doesn't start one war, kill any children or cheat anyone out of their home. Maybe y...
Conzul I bet Sony will do the same thing Microsoft does when Sony is distracted by movies, music, cameras, TVs and a financial division. These are multibillion dollar corporations, not mom and pop grocery stores.
I know most hate analyst, but most of the comments here are basically analysis too. That be said, this bird guy is off. Once the public develops a mindset, it's hard to get them off it. See any number of baseless hangups humanity has as proof. Microsoft will continue to sell a bunch of Xbox Ones. But to catch up they need more than exclusives and price cuts.
Amazon is always leaking release dates. They always listed it as a Wii UZ exclusive. Thereby leaking Nintendo's new console.
I was expecting this game sooner.
@Jebab,
Gamers are gamers. It's ignorant to believe what is successful on one platform won't work on another. It's ignorance to believe a company doesn't want to increase their fan base. There are some differences in programming, but nothing on the level of going from the PS3 to the PS4. Given the opportunity to expand your business with so little effort(several developers have stated it takes just weeks to port to Xbox One) to port, it is foolish to believe a...
Gamers that think they should be compensated for things beyond a companies control are brats that always feel entitled. Neither company owes anybody anything. Offering extra days was a nice gesture. What next, they have to compensate you if your home burns down?
Septic it's actually a BS reason. The PS4 is a totally different architecture. It's nowhere near programming for the PS3. In fact, programming for Xbox One would feel every bit as natural as the PS4.
I wonder why they aren't still developing for Home.
"Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity? No, no, no..... This time will be different."
Not sure this is a big deal. People may not have noticed but Microsoft is becoming a more open company. Their apps are being released for iPhone and Android. And their plans for Windows 10 are code once across all platforms. I don't believe that is strictly for apps. It will include PC and Xbox games.
One of the things they learned from their polling was that people want a complete ecosystem, not a bunch of different parts. With the move to 10 I believe that is what they ...
Could be a Wii U successor. Or maybe a Apple console. There had been rumors of Apple looking at AMD for some time. But a new. Wii might be in order. This Christmas has seen a big turnaround for the Wii U, but there are only so many Mario games they can release in a generation.
A console built on AMD's net architectures on the CPU and GPU sides would kill the competition. And still be sold at a profit day one just like Nintendo likes it. Microsoft and Sony will need to get...
I'm not sure why so many hate Microsoft and not Sony. People use the dollar sign for Microsoft but Sony is a company that has always charged a premium for most of it's products. Blu-ray was about taking the movie market from Toshiba. Then there was mini-disc, memory stick, beta. Sony has always gone their own route in an effort to own the market. Yet it is Microsoft that is seen as greedy. I think its another case for people blindly following the mob. When you will they learn the mob ...
People that believe Xbox is not profitable need to learn more about how the console gaming industry works. Use just a little common sense. Remember when rumors started about the power of the new consoles and everyone thought they would cost $600-800 to make. That was because people didn't understand that a combined CPU/GPU is half the cost already eliminated, that's what a APU is. Then with the die sizes the cost was even less. Guess what, the 360 has been using an APU since 2008. Yet...
They tried that with the 360. Didn't work. Japanese will still most likely stick to having one console. Maybe two. And for what they like, those two are almost always going to be PlayStation and whatever Nintendo puts out. Microsoft needs a killer app for One. Something in-house that they can guarantee will remain exclusive. They may need to form their own Japanese studio. Might be cheaper than what they have been doing. And more successful. Even if everything the studio produces in the b...
Threats outlast wrath in so many other situations it can be applied elsewhere.
Upbeat they could both do better games. But the reality is you're paying for more than just those games. Servers are not free. Security isn't either. And with each attack on gaming networks, security will cost more. Then there is R&D to try to figure out how to make the network better and safer. $50 or $60 dollars is cheap. The games are gravy. Think about what you're cable provider charges for content they don't even produce. And you pay for that each month.
