When I started playing Skyrim was the day 1.6 patch on ps3 came out. I can't comment on the before and after but the draw distance is horrid for sure. I went to the top of the College of Winterhold thinking I'd get a great view, but I was like "wtf!".
I don't currently have a gaming pc, but shit like this just makes me smh at what consoles get. Still, I'm having a blast.
Coins would make sense.
Your nephews called you a "loser", yet the only thing you find sad is what games they play? ...okaaay
"I can't believe one of the most respected devs this gen would really taint their name to get extra sales."
If I remember correctly, it was the pc crowd that got together a petition for the game when the devs had no plans in the works for a pc port. Just because a pc is more powerful than a console doesn't automatically mean it will run better on it, obviously their engine is optimized for console games.
It may have not been the best game, but it was THE game that said, "next gen is here" for PS3 owners. The facial animations, the detail of her hair, the number of on screen characters, the draw distance were all things that we had waited for in a next gen system. Plus, just mho, but I thought the story was rather enjoyable.
This made me lol, I read Xof's well articulated comment then "shut up nerd". So funny, but why the insult?
Guitar Hero =/= COD. COD was around long before GH and it will be around for many years to come. GH was a peripheral driven casual party game, and those games NEVER last.
When COD sells 12-13m + units per console do you think it's suddenly going to fall on it's face 1-2 m lol? Even at those numbers it's still not going anywhere.
I just started Skyrim a week ago (PS3 version, waited for bugs to be fixed). Along with me, there are still lots of people who are just starting to play it. But, as a couple people pointed out, I don't think there is really a need for a walkthrough. I have been using the Wiki though to look up Daedric items, armor stats, weapon stats, etc. 45 hours in so far and loving it! I feel like I've barely cracked the surface of this game.
The holiday sales will boom regardless, the real question will be what kind of sustainability will the Vita have AFTER the holidays.
@Pirate, ahh I didn't know that. But it still is a Team Ico project that's bringing in the money, no? Its good sales show that there is still a big market for Team Ico games. Plus like you said, TLG is coming which was even promoted on the Collections disc.
Team Ico just put out an HD remake which is VERY cheap to make that sold over 600,000 copies and counting. Thats a lot of profit.
You're not alone, it's a niche game in a niche market. I've played it and I see the quality of it, but it's not for me. If you're not Forza, GT or NFS you're going to struggle, and that's what happened. Besides, I think Sony wants to push more people to GT and their LBP Cart/MNR series.
"We could have just missed a new Syphon Filter for PS4, and have no one to blame, but ourselves."
Umm, no. Why should we be to blame for their poor sales? Do you think people should buy games that don't interest them just to make a corporation profits? I buy games I like, if a game dev makes games that people don't like, that's on them not us.
This news does suck, I hope they all find jobs soon, but don't try to spin this to put i...
Sad but true. There was something special about going to the store, running to the magazine section to find the latest news, cheat codes, etc. I still remember my first N Power magazine with The Legend of Zelda map. That thing got used so much it fell apart lol.
Someone could have bought them just for the patents they own and already established infrastructure. So it's still possible everyone is getting laid off. I hope not though.
"And sony has no way of matching that streamed lined development since MS owns windows."
Last time I checked games are developed based on processor type, RAM, GPU, video cards, etc, not an OS. Sure a game will have to be compatible with an OS, but games are developed around the hardware, which MS does not own. As long as Sony use common hardware and not the cell, devs will have no problem developing games and porting them **cough bethesda cough**
There are new gamers, casual and core buying consoles every day. It can be an 8 year old getting his first console, a middle aged man getting into gaming for the first time or a casual whos brothers PS3 was good enough for occasional play but is now looking into getting his own for some deeper core titles.
All examples I used are with people connected to me in some way. Every day a new gamer is born, so while these "why it's a good time to buy a xxx" may not p...
+1 on Puppeteer. I'm a grown ass man, but I'm so hyped for that game as well. For me that was the game of the show.
@nevin, you can very well be right about 3rd parties not wanting to jump on board. Sony will have to show them first hand that it can be beneficial with sales #s. It also depends on how easy/hard it is to port over a PS3 game to a PSV. Definitely not all games can be ported, but there are some that can. This is a great experiment and I'm sure the whole industry will be watching.
AC does have a good story, but imo it's waaay too drawn out. It could have been told in 2 games, but the devs chose to milk the game and gamers to make more cash. Imo, that ruined the pace of the story as well as my enthusiasm for the franchise. I didn't even play Revelations, and I'm on the fence with AC3 only because the devs already said there will be more AC in the future. If they don't finish the storyline with AC3 I'm not hanging around for the yearly iteration just ...
