You're far from alone. Remember there were over 100million psone's and over 120million ps2 sold in their lifetime. With that kind of market share, you're bound to find a few that have problems, but in Sony case it was still a miniscule percentage of the total amount of consoles out there.
I'm in the same boat as you, ps1: perfect. Ps2, perfect. PSP, perfect. Ps3, perfect. Hell, my PS3 has only ever crashed once, and I wouldn't call it a crash if there was a powercut :)

It might just be my opinion, but it didn't look as enjoyable to actually play tho. I'm all for simulation, but there is always a point it can be taken a step too far.
first of all you need a credit card that's registered in japan. If you've got one of those chances are you'd be able to read japanese anyway so it wouldn't be a problem.

Deep: What makes this a good update? Two trailers you will be able to find anywhere on the net (if not now, in the next couple of days) and two games older than most PS3 owners themselves. This is rubbish.

Now that's not entirely true. The US Defence budget (estimated at almost $440 billion in 2007) is more than the entire budget for the UK over 2005-2006 (approximately $210 billion over the two years).
We do however have the highest taxes (17.5% on sales), a ridiculously high import tax, and we get screwed every year by the Bank Of England on base rate of interest which forces inflation even higher year on year.
Economics lesson over. End result: GB get's screwed ...
Mines crashed a couple of times, but no more really than anything else. In fact my ps3 crashes more often during GT HD.

I'm from Bedford in the UK, on my second 360 but the first only failed due to a power surge taking out my power brick entirely during an electrical storm which in turn blew something internally in my 360. Up to that point (when the console was about 7 months old) I'd had no problems with it, and still have no problems with my current 360, about 4 months old.
Knock on wood that's how things will stay.
