I enjoyed the story of XIII. I enjoyed the settings as well.
I knew the game was linear because the developers commented on that before the game came out. I knew the game wasn't like a standard FF game because the developers commented on it before hand. I wasn't surprised or let down by this. I treated the game as if it didn't have the title Final Fantasy, and so I wasn't really let down.

You guys know Gears 3 supports 3d also right? Seriously don't know why anyone hasn't mentioned this.
Even Uncharted 3 would be a bad comparison. It is a platforming/ exploring/ puzzle solving tps in the style of Tomb Raider. Gears is a TPS that concentrates entirely on the story and shooter action. If you only concentrated on the camera perspective of the game, you could compare U3 with Crash Bandicoot because they are both 3rd person. Heck they are both platformers as well.

If a game that started development 9 -10 years ago is still being used as the poster-child for what modern games need to offer content wise, than I am OK with this. This generation, we have only seen content and features cut from new games. GTA4 compared to San-Andreas, Obvlivian to Morrowind.

Even when wow launched in 2004, it was up against games like star wars galaxies and everquest 2. Do you see either of these around?
2 years ago even, wow has only really gone against free to play mmos that have struggled to find a balance between what to charge for and what should be free.

I'm pretty sure WoW defined (at the time) what a modern mmo should offer. Even now, all MMo's that are coming out have a high bar they need to meet in order to have any form of success. Games are finally starting to demonstrate the same content amount/ quality and community support that WoW does. While a lot of it's mechanics are starting to show their age, you can't deny what it has done for the genre.

Sony owns most of Europe and japan. It seems to have pierced as much of the market as it can at the price it is at. Sony can only drop the price more to hope to open it up to more customers.
In the US, the 360 has majority and while there is a ton of reasons to get a PS3, most regular consumers aren't out to buy 2 systems.

One could argue that because of MS choices, Sony has been forced to step up their game to compete. Because MS has such a good service with XBL but charges, Sony has had to implement more features and keep it free to compete. I seriously doubt they PSN would be as good as it is now if it didn't have XBL to compete with. Microsoft SHOULD be concerned. For everyone's benefit, they should try and make the most powerful system next gen. It will force Sony to try and top them thus creating great hardware for everyone no matter their preference.

1 disk. Graphics don't take up hardly as much space as sound and pee-rendered cinematic does.
