Really? No one wants MGS on next gen consoles? How much of a console fanboy do you have to be in order to not even like talk of next gen consoles yet. Oh yeah, a fanboy on N4G. Only place I ever see anything about people not wanting new consoles to be announced.

Once the exploit was exposed, I believe he wrote the tools that are now used by everyone to implement their own unsigned code. He didn't discover the exploit, simply used it to design a "hack".

Don't forget that the next gen consoles will rely heavily on digital distribution. I'm not saying they will only have, but it will definitely be the transition console that pushes the industry toward a DD only system.

oops, sorry for missing 0. 30fps. I wonder if that's why it got 4 disagrees.

Considering its running on a stock 360 at 3fps, I wouldn't call it next gen. Imagine how amazing things would look on next gen with this "mega mesh" technique though.

He's trying to keep the trial short. If they dismiss it off this technicality then the court fees a minimal. If they have to prove his guilt in a lengthy process, it's more money paid to the lawyers.

After seeing the "concept" picture. I'm glad it did get canceled. I'm pretty sure a middle school kid could of drawn that better.

They aren't saying he didn't hack it. They are trying to argue that because the SDK was developed by Sony Japan that this is a matter for the Japanese courts. Kind of like when the German kid hacked Valve and released the source for Half Life 2. Because he was in Germany, they couldn't do anything to him unless he flew to the states, which they tried to trick him into doing. If they conclude that this is a matter for the Japanese courts, nothing will happen to Geo unless he goes t...

You act like they don't designing the next console as soon as the last one was finished. You think the engineers just sit around on the butt doing nothing until about 2 years before the new console comes out?

But thats the thing. They could be purchased at 150 if the console makers weren't putting in bigger hard drives each year. This gives them a reason to keep the price where it is. If you wanted to buy a 20 gig 360 it would be that cheap. Same with the PS3.

There seems to be some really bad misconceptions regarding new consoles on this site.

1: Sony said PS3 will have a 10 year life cycle
- So did PS1 and PS2. they both DID have a 10 year life cycle BUT Sony started selling the next gen console 5-6 years into that cycle.

2: PS3 and 360 still have untapped power or are just now hitting their stride.
- Just because it took a console a while to start producing good looking games doesn't mean any...

They fixed alot through patches. Also gears 2 currently has dedicated servers. This was added a few months ago.

At Pax, the developers told us it was open world but guided at the same time.

IE: you can go wherever you want but the story is going to progress you along a certain path so you will eventually need to follow it.

Not that it should matter cause the game was great otherwise, those graphics are original xbox quality. You can tell they are using a massive amount of polys on the faces and the rest of the game takes a big hit for it.

None of the article is true. Especially the gears part. They have been working overtime on gears 3 for a while.

I wouldn't be surprised if funding priority is shifting toward next gen resources.

The demo was very cool and very rough all at the same time. The giant "bush" you see will surprise most. The way the main character straddles the naked dead woman's body and examines it is a little weird too. Facial animations look amazing but the rest of the graphics (environments, character bodies, and objects) look rough. The draw distance wasn't great with fog in the distance to obscure past a certain point.

On a plus note, the gameplay looks very fun a...

I sat through a playthrough demonstration of both Battlefield 3 and LA Noire and I can say this. The facial animations in LA Noire are definitely realistic and very impressive. In everything but cut-scenes and even sometimes then, the game looks rough. You can tell most of the resources are being used rendering the faces. Gameplay and story look good though so I'll still want to try it. Battlefield looks very good graphically though the animations look a little stiff, especially after wat...

I checked it out after reading your comment. They had two 580's. One had a chrome side and one appeared to be black. Might be why he missed it.
