I was dreading Sony would spend too much time focused on Move but after WonderBook, I wished they had. Two minutes in, I said "I guess some kid might like something like this." Ten minutes later, I wanted to hunt J.K. Rowling for sport.
But the Sony conference began strong and ended strong and I can't begrudge that. More surprises would have been nice, though. Well, there's always Gamescom.
Take a look at your collection of games this gen alone and count the sequels. Even Hollywood has been the same way for years: sequels and reboots. Of all the big games being revealed at E3 this week, how many are sequels? How many new IPs are you looking forward too?
Publishers make what they know will sell and do not want to take risks because their audience proves time and time again that it doesn't want to take risks.
And even if a new IP sells millio...
End Game was previously announced. Aftermath is new.
Well, I guess you can consider every E3 keynote ruined...
Can the patch be released before we complain about what it doesn't fix?
For anyone wondering what's in the next firmware update, it will be the patch for this crap.
Stay classy, crackers...
I think everyone is getting ahead of themselves. They forget that third party publishers are the ones that dictate the ebb and flow of software. By that I mean the multiplatform games that are coming to WiiU are going to be almost identical to their 360 and PS3 counterparts, mostly out of laziness. When King Kong came out at the beginning of this gen, it was one of the first games to show the technological leap between the previous gen and this one. Nintendo will dazzle people with images of ...
Anyone remember that we still have no idea what the buy in for WiiU is gonna be, with rumors that Nintendo won't be unveiling the price at E3?
And, who wants to buy a new system so they can play the exact same (I'm not talking franchises; I mean literally the same) games that will be out for PS3, 360, and PC (even if they may look better on WiiU)?
And, who's giving up playing with their friends on current gen consoles (not to mention gamerscores...
The guys at Respawn (the actual creators of CoD) didn't want to make MW2. They wanted to move on to a new IP. Activision muscled them into making the game and Infinity Ward was not pleased. That may have translated into a shoddy final product.
On the other hand, Treyarch is Activision's whore. They make whatever game they are told to make across multiple genres with varying degrees of success. They work the licenses they are given: Tony Hawk, Spider-Man, CoD, Bond. Th...
Not so damned when it is the #1 seller every year.
But they have painted themselves into a corner. They never looked back after they left WWII and now they are moving away from the current era after 3 games. What next?
I propose a scientific experiment:
1. Edit out all references to Black Ops, Treyarch, and CoD from this trailer.
2. Show it to a person who loves CoD and gauge his reaction.
3. Reveal that this is seriously the next CoD and watch his head explode.
Side note: Didn't Mason get killed in Black Ops or am I mistaken?
I would love to see GTA V go up against whatever CoD Activision manages to spit out this year.
I know which one I would be buying.
As an adult, I have come to realize that promises are exactly that: promises. Especially when it comes to business. I have no idea what is going on over at BioWare because I don't work there. Neither do any of the people organizing protests and voicing their outrage. So I can't claim to know what happened between their promised ending of ME3 and the actual content.
But whether the fans have been lied to remains to be seen because the game is not over and even the seri...
Imagine what would happen if people were this passionate about real world issues instead of the ending to a video game. Because that is what this all boils down to. Even in the realm of pressing game industry topics, this is a non-issue. If BioWare caves to community pressure and changes the ending to the game, then the argument of whether games can be art is lost.
When an artist makes a painting does the art community have the right to bitch and moan over it and force the ar...
What are they talking about? Other than From Ashes, hasn't every piece of ME3 DLC been free? Including the new ending when that comes out?
If you already bought the game, you can "hold" whatever you want: EA is already holding your money.
If Day 1 DLC is unacceptable, can someone please tell me what the proper amount of time is between launch and the first DLC release?
Also, is Day 1 DLC still unacceptable even if it is free like the Catwoman DLC in Arkham City?
I disagree,
I pay for my own games,
I am a real gamer,
and I'm not a corporate shill.
Just saying...
The definition of "full game" is what is up in the air here.
My point is when you buy a full game, you are paying for the content that is advertised and the developer/publisher is allowing you to access. They are the gatekeepers, period. This not controversial and is the way it has always been.
There is no contract between the content provider and the consumer that gives access to what the provider doesn't want to to have. You are buying the ga...
I'm talking about free demos that do the exact same thing Capcom has done and it is widely accepted.
And speaking of Capcom, why would anyone buy a fighting game from them for full price knowing that a few months later they would release a special edition with more characters for $20 less? At this point, they are notorious for doing this.
As long as this game has been in development they will probably need to go multiplatform to break even. Meaning Rockstar will probably have to offer up something else to fulfill their deal with Sony.
GTA HD ports, please?
