If these were intended to look like "models" or "toys" I do think it would have been neat to have the "battle environments" be more like, your bedroom, the kitchen, the front yard of your house. In accurate proportion to the models. Like the old table-top arcade racing games.
Everyone should just make their own decisions and not worry about tailoring their decision-making to some other person's method. Ubisoft has disappointed me on numerous fronts for some time, this collective dissatisfaction with their products has and will deter me from future day-one purchases of said products/brands. If someone gives me the game as a handout, I would play it, but there are far better choices out there that are certain not to disappoint.

If by "better," then I will take that as TECHNICALLY superior, which is to be expected. Otherwise the two games are hardly comparable when comparing style-of-play, pacing, even the Universe in which the characters and story exist.
If you take your PS4, apply generous amounts of KY Jelly, you can use it for all sorts of other wondrous things... only TRUE power users know this though, so I'm sure you knew this as well.

It's probably a full VR Console. Which would make it both portable and powerful. The true limiting factor with an immobile console and portability is the screen. Now you can chuck the whole thing into a backpack, nerfpad it up, whip out your controller and headset and you are good to go so long as you have a battery to last you if a plug is unavailable.
Would work out well for me as it gives me justification to donate my current one to another room for strictly Movie watching, streaming purposes. I keep the upgrade.

Well put, eloquent almost. I agree there just about 100 %. It is just my standing that, and i would LOVE to be wrong, we are going to see an enormous amount of repetition. Surface features may change, appearances, but you will see the same "herds" of creatures doing the same old stuff they all just look slightly different. That sort if thing is my fear which i am almost certain will be realized. Make a liar out of me devs, PLEASE!
That logic doesn't actually work in this comparison at all, no one is going to come along and say to you "due to the limitations inherent to the programming, only a handful of ACTUAL meaningful variations of planets, life and general celestial phenomena can exist in the universe." The real universe is obviously filled with much more possibility than what will be in this game.
