Good. The most important part of RPG's are the story, gameplay and what you can do in the game. Those should be the focus, not making it look pretty.
Generally, when a game makes a point of telling you it's main character is a minority there's not going to be much substance beyond that.
Shenmue 3 probably not, since it's a continuation of a story from two games that aren't easy to come by and play. But Final Fantasy is a well known name and anyone who plays games has probably heard of FF7. I'm pretty sure people who can't get past the dated graphics of the original will give it a try, especially with the years of hype we have ahead of us.
