last gen is not the norm
Microsoft isn't going to force developers to support Xbox One if they want to make a Scorpio only game. They promised that THEY would not leave us behind no that some of these other companies wouldn't. I'm guessing that UHD disc will start to show up in 2018 and become pretty standard for Xbox by 2019. It would not be surprising if the Scorpios sales are such that by 2020 you'll only see games like Madden and FIFA using standard BR disc.
@moldybread I'm starting to think the throttling has more to do with their OS then we'd like to think. Microsoft was able to scale up with no issues but Mark seemed to hint that there were some compatibility issues with games when the clock rate went up.
Let us also not forget the crappy data caps on some of these ISPs like Comcast. Perhaps buying a movie that you dearly love and may watch more than once or twice could be cheaper in the long run. Also doesn't this also apply to the whole Xbox One hate from 2013? Some people want their content on a physical media so they are not reliant on their crappy internet provider.

Microsoft was a paid service and PSN wasn't and while this isn't an excuse that works for me it is at least understandable if stupid. This gen they are both on the same playing field and there are 0 reasons to not do this.
edit: the systems were also vastly different in design as well
