I'm indifferent about the avatars.
I created mine, saved it, and went on to enjoy the rest of the NXE, which overall ROCKS.
Everyone put their fanboyism aside for the moment, and think about this: It's a good deal. 80GB system w/partial backwards compatibility (no longer available on newer PS3s) and a game-of-the-year candidate for the SAME price as the standard 80GB w/o those features?
It's worth it.
So, for people who pirated Gears 2, this would be the (ban)Hammer of Dawn?
Or for Halo 3 pirates, it's the Gravity (ban)Hammer?
Gamers.
You're right. Oops. Wrong game. I know the difference, but my tired brain didn't realize it.
(Let this be a warning, folks: Look before you post).
And they're well worth every penny.
Understood, but the system was modded pretty shortly after its release, which was nearly three years ago. I would think that if there was harm to be had, we would have seen it by now. Long-term is still to be decided, but I think the established precedent suggests that piracy will be a minor problem, at worst.
I could be wrong, tho.
Thanks for your reply.
Sold.
Fable 2 and Gears 2 have sold about 4 million combined, so I don't think that piracy has hurt much, if at all.
Indeed, with the 360 having nearly 50 million-selling titles overall, it seems that 360 owners buy games in large quantities rather than frequently pirating them.
I was one of those lucky enough to get the NXE early, so I've put it through its paces. My impressions:
A bigger HD would be great if you want to install games. Let me tell you: I installed Gears 2, and not only are the load times shorter, but there's less pop-in. Plus, while playing Gears 2, my 360 is SILENT. The hum from my TV is louder.
I have an Elite, so HD space is not that big of a concern. Bigger HDs, though, are expensive...the 60GB bundle ($100 w/headset a...
My initial feeling about this was "meh." But after seeing shots and hearing about the open world setting, I'm a little more interested.
One thing, tho: There have been rumors of the game being only 6 or 7 hours long. I hope that's not the case, and if so, then the game better be cheap. If MS can publish Banjo and VP for $40, why not this?
Just for that, I'm eating an extra helping of turkey on Thanksgiving day...along with some ham, and maybe some veal. :)
Actually, fanboys are those young men who wave fans over tourists on tropical islands to keep them cool. For some reason they keep showing up on this site...guess they need something to do on their breaks.
*Applause*
Amen, bro. I could care less about pixels and framerates and NPD...I didn't sweat those things when playing Zelda on the NES, and I don't sweat them when chainsawing Locusts in Gears. Give me Braid and Portal and Flow, not graphics and hype and fanboyism.
Gamers FTW!
Any time I need a good laugh, I go to the Open Zone. There's some pretty toxic hatred being spewed there.
There is one thing I still cannot understand about console fanboys: Why, why, why do they get so worked up over a hunk of plastic and metal?
Their system doesn't love them.
It doesn't feed them.
It could care less about their lives and their fates.
This isn't about Darfur, or the genocide in Sudan, or Chechnya, or the environment or overpopulation or world peace.
It's a friggin' game console.
(/rant, climbs off soa...
They're fanboys...they are wrong by default. :)
Not bad. Certainly better than last year's ad, which was mostly crappy, cheap games that no one wanted (my store still has a few of them left over, even after all this time. That's how crappy they were). Target had the best ad last year for gaming, although Circuit's wasn't bad.
If you're willing to brave the crowds and get up with the chickens, then there are some good deals out there for gamers this Black Friday.
I don't care what they call it or when it comes out, just so long as it's reliable. Four dead 360s is enough for me.
THIS JUST IN: George Lucas sues both, claiming copyright infringement for the logo's resemblance to the Death Star.
And the planet Saturn promptly sues all three, claiming they copied its moon Mimas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
