I admit, i may be a 360 fan, but it has to be said that MS has really done very well this gen, even considering the woeful rrod debacle.

There was never a reason to buy more than one 360 console.
If you bought a 360 launch console, your repairs were covered by a three year warranty.
If you buy a 360 console now, you most likely will not suffer rrod nor e74 but if you do, then your repairs are covered by a three year warranty.

I highly doubt that this is feasible. Sony will not have had enough time to recoup its $3-4 billion losses on the ps3 to risk an early release of the ps4 with associated losses due to new PS4 hardware.
I would bet that MS will want to utilise the first mover advantage again, as the PS2 strategy of launching before the xbox1 seems to have worked well last gen, as it has this gen for the 360 vs ps3.
Maybe both companies will relinquish the traditional console model of cut...
