But realistically, with ps3 sales eventually stabilising, we'll see a return to normal growth ratios and the sales gap will close only slowly - that's assuming MS doesn't counter unexpectedly with another price cut and natal goodness and outstrip the ps3 again in 6-12 months time.

The ps3 $399 sku has been losing money for nearly 3 years.
If it has been making money overall, then that has been a recent development.
Prior to this, of course, it is no secret that the complete investment losses on ps3 are close to $4 billion!
Now take the (very recent) breakeven on the $399 ps3 and subtract $100 in lieu of the pricedrop. A $100 pricedrop is a big drop in sales revenue, in anyone's languag...
SSDs are not yet viable for consoles
They are too expensive and the capacities are not sufficient to justify the costs.

It seems that whenever we hear some negative press about anything ps3, a horde of ps3 fanboys jumps onto n4g to defend, damage control, instigate conspiracy theories, boycott reputable websites and generally cry foul.
Yet, when we hear some positive news about anything ps3, the same people forgot to apply the same logic!
It is sad to see so many one-eyed fanboys part of the gaming community.
