It's definitely BOTH. While gameplay is more important since it's obviously a game, graphics allow for better gameplay and story. I don't think Uncharted would have been possible on PS1. I don't think it would have had the same impact with PS1 graphics, no matter how great the story was. Also, the gameplay wouldn't have been possible either. The same goes for a lot of games. With PS4 and next Xbox we will surely see more new ideas that will come in consequence of the bett...
Micro transactions are a very dangerous trend for the industry. It may start as a good idea but it will only take one game who implements it in a abusive way and be successful to ruin it. Just look at DLC. It started as a way to expand games and deliver more content to players without the need for a sequel. Yet, it became a way to milk gamers from all the money they could by cutting content from the game to sell it separately. DLC became the reason unlockables are now a thing of the past.
It depends on the franchise. Some franchises are good, but some decisions might have affected them, and a reboot might renovate them by trying again with fresh ideas. Others might be just trying to milk as much as possible.
In any case though, I prefer new IPs, because they can too become successful franchises
I wonder if things will change with the PS4 and Xbox 3. Developers seem too happy about PS4's architecture that it would be a blatant lie if they don't take advantage of it right away. All excuses about PS3 are no longer valid, according to what everyone is saying and the reaction to the conference.
We now have to wait to see what the next Xbox brings to the table. I sure hope that neither the Xbox nor the PS4 limits one another, whether by specs or dirty negotiation...
and also unicorns and triple rainbows.
So you would have preferred to be shown the console but not the specs?. What the PS4 can do is much more important than what it looks!
Just look at the Wii U. They focused on the controller, and then after everyone's confusion they showed the console, but they stayed very quiet about the specs. Month after, everyone knew it was a disappointment, and that the specs of the consoles wouldn't be much better than the PS3/360.
I was more interested in the ...
Ignore the dates. Just hope that the games come out this year. But yeah, Beyond Good and Evil 2 gotta be fake. Although it might be a surprise during GDC
I would like maps, inventory and some mini games, but not something to be used with the gameplay itself.
The gameplay should return to the gamepad using buttons and not the Wii mote.
Actually one part that I found unrealistic was when Lara get's captured but they don't remove their radio and weapons. Later in the game they do, but the first time they leave her equipment with her.
Most of those points in the article are justified because it's a game. If I wanted to play exactly as real life, then I would go outside.
I don't care if it's a low end PC as long as is a high enough leap from the PS3. I don't understand why everyone is obsessed about this. Why does it have to be the best supercomputer in the world? Was someone actually expecting that?
Also, Nvidia is butthurt or something, because they are trying to downplay the PS4 so much.
Not necessarily, because Microsoft then will have a clause in their terms that no game will be released on Xbox if the game is not on par or better than the other consoles. Just like they did this generation.
Believe me, Microsoft will find a way to screw the competition, if they can't do it the right way.
I don't care which game is better. In my opinion both are good, but I liked Lara more than I liked Drake. Drake is great when he is with Elena and Sully, more than by himself.
What it's fantastic about Tomb Raider though, is the controls. The game just plays beautifully. There are things to improve, and certainly they will (unless they ruin them like Guerrilla did with Killzone 2's perfect controls for KZ3) Anyways, Lara always did what I wanted her to do in the g...
Pokemon franchise is really fitting to this kind of gameplay, but I wish we had a full 3D (polygons) Pokemon. I dream of a Pokemon game where you have this huge land with towns, everything in 3D (like Final Fantasy, Oblivion but in third person, etc) and you have Pokemon all over the world, walking, running, flying, attacking at you, and then have battles like in Pokemon Stadium but with actually hitting each other like the cartoon series.
Maybe the power of the Wii U is not...
I agree! It happens with everything. Call of Duty sells millions, everybody starts doing military shooters. They need to think about games that will be innovative and risk it, than just look at what sells and just copy it.
If what developers are saying about the PS4 being so easy to develop for, there should be more innovation this gen, and not more "copy-paste" games.
A glitch happened to me in Tomb Raider. I was about to start the last mission (I think) and decided to go haunt all those collectibles first, but then I got killed and I respawned in an empty workd standing on nothingness. I died, started the checkpint again, quit the game, deleted the patch, everything, and the game still respawn me there.
One of the reasons I hate autosave. They don't let you do a backup at least.
So I lost everything I had of the game, and I r...
That something I love about Nintendo. They have always offered their consoles (mostly handheld, but sometimes home consoles) in different colors and designs. Sony and Microsoft need to do that. Specially Sony with the Vita. They showed it in lots of colors when it was still NGP and they don't release them.
Excellent game no matter which platform you play it in!
I don't believe that it won't be an action RPG. It would be messed up since that was the excitement for that title alone. If true, then Square Enix is dead. They then, should just be a publisher, because as developers are failing so bad they are leading themselves to the ground.
Yeah, I agree that Uncharted has better characters and story, but don't forget that this is the first game. Uncharted only introduced us to the characters, while Uncharted 2 developed them very nicely (and Uncharted 3 just sucked, story and character wise).
Tomb Raider can only improve, and unless they do an Uncharted 3, and fill everything with plot holes and forget important characters (Chloe), and introduce others (villains, charlie), Tomb Raider will only get better....
Wasn't Quantic Dream's demo real time?
