Crowdfunding is not preordering. Even if a crowdfunded product never materializes, investors are seldom going to get refunds. That's a risk they took, as with any other investment that fails to pan out. Here, it's just a matter of using a different store to buy the product--a minor inconvenience at worst. So I see no reason why anyone should get a refund.
Edit: frostypants, you and me both, buddy. I go between scratching my head and laughing about this nonsen...
I'd wait to see if the games are really going to run at 2160p, 120 fps locked before I buy an expensive extra-capable TV--because I doubt it highly. I hope they can do that res at 60 fps locked, but even that is no small feat.
The relevant interview bit about BC and XCloud starts at 42:15 on that YT video (credit url above).
Pretty much what I expected. They're hedging their bets. Scarlett will be backward-compatible, and also, you'll be able to stream XBL content even to phones. What I didn't expect was that you can turn your Scarlett console into a private server, and you can stream your stuff from it anywhere through XCloud.
Streaming is not BC. Anything can be streamed, even games from PC or competing consoles (given proper legal agreements). You can stream to a phone or tablet too. You don't need a console.
No, BC means the system emulates an older system, locally. Just like with PS5 emulating PS4, it should be no big trick to emulate the Xbox One on Scarlett. The architecture is basically the same, with the CPU being much more powerful. It probably got designed from the ground up t...
Can't read that without javascript, and I don't know the site well enough for such trust. From the comments here, I take it it's yet another subscription-only game service. (I could look that up and read about it, but I really don't care enough.) No. It's an easy, short word. Just no. I wish more of us practiced it.
For the clicks?
I heard that too. Laughed my ass off. Then a couple of comments here made me listen again. He actually said SoC, not SSD.
Edit: Actually, he said SoC, not SSD. What I thought I heard was the most memorable part of that video. Oh well . . .
I listened again carefully. Razzer and solidossnakos are right: He said "the SoC [system on a chip] and the solid-state drive". It's much funnier the other way.
1:51 - "The combination of the SSD and the Solid-State Drive . . ."
I about spit up my coffee.
Silly talking heads aside, that looks like a good match for the PS5, technically anyway. Not surprising. Same APU at the heart of it, similar memory and storage tech. Let's see where they go with it.
I don't know. But I can tell you who it isn't for. Me!
That's why it seems so familiar. I remember the earlier story.
Problem is, this may have easily gone the other way. The game is a distraction, and without real-life events coming into the picture somehow, distraction may have become his life, until it was too late. I wonder how many people have ended up in this same scenario, but without a way out of it. They wouldn't be writing blogs about it. They'd just be a silent, isolated mess.
Love that quote, starchild. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Yes.
In this context, BC means the PS5 will also be a PS4. Why do I keep seeing so much negativity about being able to continue playing your existing games into the next generation? That sounds awesome to me.
I wanted this game to be spectacular. It wasn't, at launch. The "Next" update brought it up to being good enough to buy. It drew me in for months. Loved it. Still go back and play it now and then.
I don't preorder, ever. I wait to see reviews from multiple trusted sources before I buy. Maybe that's why I'm not holding a grudge against Sean for years like a drama queen. I waited until the game got good before jumping in, and then I had a gre...
He did! She baked him a cake. Woo! What else would he want from Peach? ;)
Not outrageous enough to trigger the sarcasm bell around here, rain. I guess you needed that joke-killing "/s".
We'll see. Any depiction of a trademarked property usually involves licensing. That's why Porsches didn't appear in many racing games for years. EA (I think) had the exclusive rights to them. (Forza games eventually got them as DLC. They worked out a deal.) I'm surprised Activision used a current, trademarked vehicle without paying the piper. Then again, it's a ubiquitous military vehicle, so it's hard to depict a modern war accurately without it.
And they even used my favorite music track in the reveal video. Instant goosebumps. Sword up!
Let's see if they can keep it moving fluidly in battles and big cities. Roaming around the open countryside even on the horse shouldn't be terribly taxing.
