...The New 360 Dashboard = Itunes + PS3 Interface. Mind you, they have switched the axis for the new interface so you scroll left to right for the games and not up/down like you do on the PS3.
This is a much needed overhaul from the garish interface that the 360 currently sports. However, I'm not a fan of the new (Wii) avatars as they are aimed solely at kids or guys who are too in touch with their feminine side.
...there is nothing to keep a gaming console afloat. I really wish there were only one console in the next gen so everyone can get back to focussing on making great games and not games that have to run on both consoles.
...is that the Apple product is wisper quiet. I don't have the Elite is that any less noisy than the 20gb model? Is the new soon to be released 60gb model quieter or is it the same SKU with a bigger HDD slapped on the side (or top depending on you orientation).
To be honest, I hope there is only one console come the next generation. Both the 360 and PS3 are heading down similar paths but you'd have to get both to get access to all the digital media. Seems like the format wa...
...because its practically the same service but free. Supporters of XBL will still claim there is an edge in functionality such as cross game invites but is that really all that good?
I mean, I have seen very little next-gen game lobbies that support cross game invites. Now what I mean by that is, how many times have you received an invite, accepted and by the time you go to enter it says something like "cannot join".
When someone sends an invite th...
GTAIV for me did not live up to the hype. It was a snorefest.
Bit of an over simplification. Your filing cabinet statement assumes that when searching for data that the PS3 is doing a sequential read of the entire disc (i.e. looking in the first drawer, then moving onto the second and third, etc).
I doubt very much any PS3 games search for data this way and that they would use an indexing method that would allow any search to go directly to the right file in the right filing cabinet drawer.
The reason why games on the PS...
...the catch is you have to sign up for a 2 year contract at $250 per month. That's $6,000 for a phone over 2 years!!!
And people think the PS3 is expensive...
The Orange Box has had its day and I dare say if EA did release the patch people seek then it probably would not result in a huge boost in new sales.
...The only similarity between Uncharted and Gears is the fact that they are both played from a 3rd person perspective and have a cover system. I have played through both and I have to admit that although Uncharted was fun I (repeat "I") did not find it as impressive overall as Gears.
You have to take into consideration that Uncharted is basically a game like Indiana Jones or Tomb Raider but on next-gen steroids in terms of visuals. Gears to me felt like the kind of...
...to be a huge seller for the 360. The original Gears of War for me was really the first next-gen game to hit the 360 with its detailed graphics, larger than life characters and in your face, unapologetic action. Sure the story was lacking but Gears of War was one hell of a ride that really made you happy to own an HD display.
Sony need something like this on the PS3. Ok, lets not get into the Uncharted debate as we all know it features some fantastic graphics however, it d...
...offered nothing new. Scripted AI, simple puzzles, etc, it was the same style of gamplay as last gen iterations of the game. There needed to be something other than HD visuals to attract me.
With game development costs increasing on an annual basis you can't expect a publisher to simultaneously develop 3 versions of the game and maximise the potential of all 3 platforms. Sure there is not a big leap between the 360 and (mid range) PC but the PS3 is quite different and to get things running at optimal levels takes more effort which in turn equates to higher development costs.
Forgetting any comparissons to the PC version, if the PS3 version looks naff then I'll pas...
...the the console versions will be the poorer cousins of the (high-spec) PC version. I will still get this game for the PS3 if:
a. The visuals are still top notch in terms of a console game.
b. There is no screen tearing.
c. And its fun as hell to play.
...the PS3 still packs a lot of value gievn its higher price tag. If you were to base your judgement on games that had been released then the 360 still has the edge. However, that may or may not change with some of the upcoming PS3 releases.
For me, I can't wait for "PlayTV" to be released but sadly its already overdue.
...do you buy your HDMI cables? The moon?
I would never pay $50 for an HDMI cable.
I recall on some of the updates for the 360 that some consoles had been bricked and when the owners called the support line they we're basically told that it's not Microsoft's problem.
My dealings with the MS support line were average at best. You always ended up speaking to some individual who's second language was english and their accent was so thick I started to think english was my second language as well :S
People forget that part of a good purchase shouli...
...I could not get into MGO I'm glad to see it has a healthy following and is getting support from Konami.
...very much they'll announce a cross console title however if they did, I wonder how many of those above who said "I love Bungie" would continue to do so.
...an Atari ST game it would have only at best scored a 4/10. The video link for this game was about as boring as games come.
Just how does the Wii keep outselling everything? Don't people realise that once you get past the gimmick of the Wii motion control there is very little left?
...what happens when MS become a monopoly elsewhere but do we really want that in the console/gaming industry. What if the 360 had been the only option this gen? would we have seen MS throw a billion dollars to sweep the RROD issue under the rug? would we have a 360 console with built in HDMI or larger hard drives?
We don't want or need the kind of monopoly that MS is after. Nor do we want Sony to be the only plyer left standing. However, with Sony losing so many exclusive...
