Both 360 and PS3 are nothing without online for some people because they take it for granted. PS3 has amazing SP games but people expect online features.
Therefore it's not PS3 that's "nothing without online", it's YOU that has to rely on online gaming to fill your gaming needs.
Casual fans are seeing that each game in the series is a tiny improvement from the last, but they still continue to buy them. All my friends are casual gamers who play CoD, and they never stop complaining about how similar Black Ops is to MW2/WAW and yet they have all told me that they're going to buy MW3.
I think it's just how it works this gen, if a game/movie/song is popular among your group of friends, then you have to buy it.

Seems like they are coming to the very final stages lately. They announced that they had finished (or were going through) the testing stage yesterday, and now this! I don't think they'd announce this until PSN was very close to be going live. Hopefully it's up later today!
Well actually we do know that Sony's security measures weren't strong enough, they even said themselves that their security was "outdated".
Anyway I hope they learn from their mistakes and maintain the new system that is soon to be place.
I'm not defending Sony, their security wasn't strong enough and that's ONLY their fault. However a lot of the blame should be on the hackers who actually caused the problem, this whole thing started with one guy who threw a hissy fit because he didn't get his own way!

Well I too enjoy both and I'm definitely not one of the "gamers" who only plays CoD. Since PSN has been down I have completed MGS4, God of War 3, Uncharted 2 (for the sixth time!) and nearly MS: Apocalypse. I just need a break from SP games every now and then because I want something different.
So because I enjoy playing MP I am sad and pathetic. I think you're being biased mate, try and comprehend that some people DO buy games for MP and some people don't enjoy playing the same SP game over and over again.

Defending GeoHot? How are they defending GeoHot when what they're doing is affecting customers and certainly isn't going to make Sony say "oh ok we give in you can hack the PS3 and play pirated games now", because that was GeoHotz intention in the first place wasn't it? Why are you talking like you wouldn't be able to use play on both consoles? You'd still be able to use "Live's exclusive features" if you bought a PS3 ya know. Also, I'm pretty sure if you had a PS3 there would be more than 2 or 3 games that would interes...
Hot Pursuit wasn't as good as I thought it'd be. The one thing that ruins it for me is the environment; it's just boring! chasing racers in the city would be more enjoyable for me.
Most Wanted is my personal favorite. The series as a whole is amazing.

That may be because the playstation store isn't up yet. Sony said the PS store won't be up at the same time as PSN.
Anyway, I'm still confused! I want it to be real though.
If they confirmed it then people would be rushing to get online all at once. Maybe they just wanna test it for a few people. Note that it's also very early in the morning where he is, which means very few people will be online in that area.
EDIT - Actually, he's over the HOME icon but nothing is happening in the background. When I go to the HOME icon on my PS3 the background changes to bright blue...
IMO MW2 is a better game than Black Ops. Simply because MW2 was a big step up from CoD4, not in terms of balanced gameplay but graphically and campaign wise.
Then Black Ops came along and it was just MW2 with a different skin, the map designs are terrible, and they still haven't realized that CoD4 was balanced ONLY because of it's simple map designs. Also Black Ops does a terrible job of letting the player know when the game was actually set, which IMO is an important thing to...
I love playing SP, BUT I have Portal 2 and MS:A sitting in front of me and I really wanna get online on both of 'em.
I just wanna know when PSN will be back on, I've gotten pretty much everything out of the SP in all my games now lol.
I'm sure Sony will notify everyone shortly before they are turning PSN back on.
Can't wait to play some Portal 2 co op.
You should read the review instead of concentrating on the score. They did in fact love the game, but they found things that could be improved i.e.. loading screen between every level, not a massive improvement over the previous game and overpriced DLC.
