You can't say Nintendo went astray with the N64, that's not a factual statement. To go astray meant that they did something outside of the normal and choosing cartridges was not only normal to them, but to every previous popular home console at the time.

Why do people continue to paint gimmicks as something extremely negative? VR is a gimmick, kinect is a gimmick, Wii remote, PS move, light bars, touchpads, touch screens, nfc are all gimmicks! They are things not needed to play games the way you always have in the past, but manufacturers are including them to enhance the way you play.
You don't need a backup camera,power windows/door locks, Bluetooth, push button start, keyless entry or parking sensors in your car either ...

I really hope that Nintendo uses the "Get N or Get out" marketing phrase! Even if the NX controller doesn't look like this but has some of the functionality, I like it because it's bold and trying to push gaming somewhere...
No doubt the NX will be compatible with many plain controllers, but something like this (hopefully with grips though) looks like it can bring a new element to gaming.

Are you insane, the PS4&XbOne both launched on laptop apu's with mid level somewhat gpu's for $399 and higher. You really expect that Nintendo can realistically put a brand new Zen apu chip in the NX plus hbm memory 12gb of ram, 500gb had for $350? That's just expecting to much and I'm assuming the NX gpu would be much stronger than PS4 as well.
