Could also do with the simplicity, lack of confusion & the fact that it's been on a prominent store much longer.
Much easier to find out whether your iPhone can run the game than whether one of a million different kinds of Android phones can.
At the absolute least, they're taking a fairly large bump to their own revenue in an attempt to gain better profit margins in the long-term future.
Something that would frankly benefit everyone except Apple & Google (although you could make the case that the impact to them could mean compromises to their stores, OS or even devices but with their profit drops, though I doubt that very much).
Well Microsoft once lost an antitrust case for the way they bundled Internet Explorer with Windows.
Given the huge market & generalised platform iOS provides, it's possible the courts may agree with Epic that the App Store having a monopoly on the platform is anti-competitive, stifling innovation & anti-consumer much like the Windows debacle.
Or maybe they'll disagree & judge iOS by its market share with Android & focus on the mobi...
@CaptainObvious878
Sometimes I point out "I could care less" essentially means that they actually care.
Sometimes I sarcastically play along as if I didn't know their intention then point out why what they said was incorrect.
Frankly, I'm more peeved by linguistic experts that accept the erroneous statements as intended, like many dictionaries & thesauruses have a definition for "Literally" that means "figuratively".
Just being helpful. I've seen quite a few awkward exchanges arise from using double negatives.
They're almost always used accidentally though(reversing the definition of their statement) I personally use it intentionally(& accurately) from time to time.
The difference between that & say, the "let's eat grandma" fiasco, is that people don't speak with punctuation so irl, the context will always make the intention obvious,...
I'd say Halo Wars is significantly different from other Halos. Spartan Assault is also another genre entirely as well.
Expansions don't always require the original. Standalone Expansions have existed for a very long time. Any PC gamer can testify to that.
Even Sony itself has called the game an expansion. I don't see the issue with it either, certainly more honest than pretending that it's a fully fledged sequel of a similar or larger scope.
"Sony DIDNT even need to do NOTHING"
You used a double negative, reversing your statement.
You essentially said that "Sony needs to do something".
In the future, consider:
"Sony DIDNT need to do ANYTHING" or,
"Sony needs to do NOTHING".
You don't need correct spelling or grammar for your sentence to make sense, but a double negative can change the meaning of your st...
Not real hatred, just irritance at trying to find where the disc fits when Dark, or explaining to others where the disk goes in.
The PS2s crevices(the clear inspiration for the PS4) on the other hand were fine as they didn't detract from the disk tray. Probably my favourite console design.
Typos & missing words kinda happen when one doesn't Spell check when using their mobile & swipe to type.
The main point was there though. A disc has 2 sides, one is for the title & graphics, the other is for the data.
With the PS5 image here, I can't quite tell which way the disc goes in. I would assume the data side faces the flatter side of the console, as I assume that's how it sits when horizontal, but I'm not certain as i...
I don't hate the PS5 design but I definitely don't like it either, I also can't immediately if the data side is the disk faces inwards (left) or outwards given its placement. I'd wager inwards given that's where the bulk & the way I presume that it lays when horizontal would have the data side down.
I really hated how the PS4 hid the disk tray in the crevice & hated the Pro model even more for having a second one. I like the simplicity of the X1X...
My luck with the Xbox 360(arcade version) wasn't too bad, though it tried to chew through a few discs if I placed it vertically. Was really loud though.
My PS3 was solid throughout. My original PS4 though was just as loud as my old x360 & was just rather inconsistent at times- the Pro model I traded it for was much better.
Either way, people in here will bitch at anything he says, & apparently what he doesn't say either.
Except when it comes from China.
Potentially. I don't know if it's relevant, but Xbox games seem more available through third party digital retailers so that could help their defence, especially in contrast with Nintendo.
Australia's EB Games has a perpetual "sale" going on, they cover their stores in ghastly posters to advertise it, yet their "sale" prices always end up higher than JB Hi-Fi's standard prices, especially newer games that they'll advertise for $99 "on special" when JB has it for $69-79.
Older games are somehow worst, their default prices almost never go down from the original RRP, they just put it back on "special" again, wh...
Maybe it's a CPU issue.
No & that's why people shouldn't expect any major graphical upgrades this gen- the PS5 is at best, three quarters the performance of a 2080ti & even that struggles at Ultra to achieve 60fps in 4k for many games.
The upgrades will mostly go towards reaching those high fame rates & resolutions. Other graphical improvements over current gen PC won't come from raw power, rather individual engine upgrades, development techniques, etc.
Yet despite their lack of physical profits(accounting practices aside), & the increase in competition, they're still booming.
The expenditures they're making today are largely intended to turn to pure profit years from now, just like how it'll likely take the PS5 some time to turn a profit on manufacturing and R&D.
Yet Steam still exists on Windows despite Epic's own store's discounted price to developers, then there's the option for PC developers to release their game free of any Store, paying no licensing fees to anyone- that's been an option for decades yet consoles still exist.
So that is living proof the competition won't end anything except a potential monopoly/duopoly. The difference with consoles is that they're specialist devices so it'd be harder ...
