Achievements/Trophies have totally revitalized gaming for me- I play a game for fun, then I do even more for achievements, which is fun the whole time, more bang for my buck.
Good move on Microsoft's part, Final Fantasy hasn't been anything special for a long time; keep the money for something else (anything but Kinect related rubbish).
Good list, got a lot of them still to play. I use low spec Mac Mini for computing so I personally don't care if a game is also on the PC. Exclusive or not, those are 10 great games (well, I hope they are when I get around to playing them).
This game is so good, there's no need to even mention the console war in the discussion- as with every other article. The game is fantastic regardless of allegiance. It is definitely the best game ever made in my opinion, everything is sublime, I cannot think of a single way to improve it.
Is it possible to get prescription 3D glasses? I tried on a pair of cinema 3D glasses on top of my seeing glasses and it was very uncomfortable- I couldn't have watched a 2 hour film, let alone play a 10+ hours game.
Couldn't the PS3 upscale the PS2 games in the same way as an emulator? I don't think games are released at a specific resolution- that's how PC games can have theirs changed (correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm not sure what I'm going on). It does seem a bit cheeky to re release PS2 games if that is the case.
EDIT: Not sure if upscale is technically the right word- just PC based emulators can run PS2 games at HD resolutions- whether its native or upscaled...
(Couple of spoilers in this comment for those who haven't played it) Heavy Rain is often hailed as a masterpiece, because it tries to incorporate a mature storyline, but the fact is, its terribly written, terribly acted and filled to the brim with choppy animations and bugs- not what I'd expect in a cinematic experience. The finest example of the game failing for me was the scene in which you have to cut off your finger- I felt this was totally unnecessary and a cheap effort to cash i...
Cold War Snake Eater style or Rapture. Ideally I want an Oblivion style game set in the entirety of Middle Earth, maybe one day...
After Nintendo's E3, I'll be buying a Wii again- Donkey Kong Country is more appealing than anything for my other consoles (except maybe RAGE), not even mentioning all the other awesome titles that have released on Wii since I sold mine at the end of 2007. I don't see the value of Move or Kinect when compared to a console with so many great games, especially as the price difference isn't that big.
Personally I loved ODST, it was only £30 at most retailers in the UK and for that I got an awesome campaign which I've played through 3 times now, firefight which is ace although, no matchmaking was a bit of a letdown and I had held off on Halo 3 DLC maps as I knew they were coming with this. Seriously, its an awesome game- cool art style, great soundtrack, clever storyline. It really doesn't deserve all the bashing.
Getting a 360 in a few days and it'll be a shame not to keep my alias as a gamertag, especially as PSN has no problem with it. Not that it matters at all, but I'm not gay nor trying give that impression, the name spawned from people calling me "Chrissay".
Do many people still play Diablo 2? After seeing footage of 3 I've been really keen on trying it out, but not if its got a small population online. Or is it playable/any good single player?
I'd be suprised if people sued Apple because they got a virus while trying to illegally download Apple's software :P
The fact is, although Macs are vulnerable to viruses and what not, its got to say something when the fact that a virus exists at all is considered "News". And to those saying that "Mac isn't virus proof, its just no one makes viruses for them", so what? I have a Mac and I don't get viruses- I love it.
Good points, for me personally, I think they should have made the typical zombies much harder and mix some hunter-esque zombies in there. Rather than just taking out the special units, change the normal zombies to be more interesting and provide a challenge.
Since when did someone have to have done something better to have an opinion about something. I guess all ign's reviews are void as they've never developed a game...
I was really looking forward to L4D til they showed off the special units. The hunters seemed fine, but the others are silly, and for me, I wanted a more traditional zombie shooter- something like 28 Days Later, but in game form, obviously.
Team Fortress 2 or Bioshock.
I find snipers a major pain in the arse anyway, with the patch there will be 6 or 7 to a team... I still don't think they fit TF2's ethos anyway.
Neither of them appeal to me- maybe when there are some interesting looking Kinect games, but for now- Kinect has no games that are my cup of tea and Move is too similar in price and experience to a Wii, which is a much better purchase I think.
