The Playstation 3 launched with a dreadfully outdated graphics card architecture and it produces some astonishing console graphics- the Wii U will do great, gamers just want Nintendo's franchises in HD anyway.
"Give me good games and I still will hold an interest in the product, right? Nah, Nintendo decided to strip even more features out of the device. This time stating that Blu-ray and DVD movie playback will not be included in WiiU."
The internet is often praised for allowing almost anyone to make their voices heard, a new era in free speech. This writer is wasting his opportunity to write something worthwhile, instead, expertly choreographing mindless attacks on his k...
I don't have a family of 6 and if I did, I wouldn't be encouraging any of them to play video games.
Nintendo are being very lazy with backward compatibility- there would be a huge market for upascaled Wii and Gamecube games as a lot of HD gamers avoided the Wii this generation. Unless they have a PS3 style strategy in mind of just re releasing Wii games remastered in HD.
Because current generation systems aren't made by Nintendo and don't have the incredible games exclusive to Nintendo consoles. If all you care about is graphics, stick to what you know- for you, there is no point in purchasing the Wii U. I on the other hand love the gameplay Nintendo offers- straight up, no nonsense fun.
I had been pretty unaware of and uninterested in the NGP/Vita until now, but wow, that's some seriously impressive stuff. I had no idea it would be so capable, certainly puts the 3DS' price point into question, if it wasn't already.
Myself and 3 friends picked up the GOTY Edition in a Steam sale. For the first 30 levels or so, despite some insanely appalling vehicle based missions, we were having some serious fun.
Then it hit us, nothing was going to change. The game remains easy, no enemies require any special tactics beyond "Shoot them in the head/back for a critical hit" and though co-op in nature, there isn't a huge amount of cooperation other than coordinating which enemies to attack f...
Personally, I was both ecstatic and dissapointed with the Luigi's Mansion 2 reveal. It's about time this game saw the light of day, but I wish it was a Wii or Wii U game, I don't think the 3DS will do (what I think is) Nintendo's best franchise justice.
Its also a shame that a new Pikmin can't appear on this list instead of the "promised" Smash Bros.
This game looked terrible during the conference, but this is a really promising trailer for both game and console actually.
I've read somewhere (likely not reliable) that the graphics processor is a modified Radeon 4850. If true, it most certainly is considerably more capable than those in the other consoles.
Only a fool would ignore the talent and creativity that goes into making the multiplatform games that have defined this generation.
Of all the amazing decisions that have made the Bioshock series what it is- the art direction, the story, the writing, the weapons, the gameplay, the character design- Move support is the least significant. By far.
It is going to be a great game, Move support or no, so go fuck yourself.
The author is making a point about console fans, clearly.
"When it comes down to it, your system of choice came in ahead and likely it’s competitor’s show was a joke."
Evidently, you didn't understand the author, so to assume you'll understand me is a bad decision, but you are the exact issue the author is referring to- people who ignore logic and reason and hastily declare themselves and everything they love to be right and everything else,...
In fact, correct me if I'm wrong- the article at no point claims Microsoft "won" E3. He claims that indie developers and the gamers lost E3, due to Sony and Nintendo's lack of indie support.
I agree somewhat, indie games on Steam are some of the most fun I've had gaming. They are the future; far more daring than anything the industry seems to be churning out- adding 3D support to a game ain't good game design.
Boycott this gimmick! 3D is the death of the industry we love- say goodbye to interesting game design, say hello to 3D, shiny shit.
If it won't upscale anyway, I don't give a shit- I'll stick to Dolphin. They missed a great opportunity to please a lot of people- the Wii U could have launched with hundreds of top games in HD that many hardcore gamers will have missed, on Wii and Gamecube.
My point still stands 100%- if the film industry had hit the shit pan, 3D and Blu Ray ain't going to make it any better. Good films, however, could do.
Same applies to games- CoD getting stale? Release MW4 in 3D and watch everyone go nuts, let them make use of Blu Ray's capacity, those improved textures will get the series back on track... The way things are heading, this isn't an unreasonable analogy.
Using the Blu Ray's capacity to create so...
@zootang
3D and Blu Ray are what's wrong with the film industry and they WILL harm the video game industry in the long run.
Apocalypse Now, Taxi Driver, 2001- all of which weren't released in 3D or on Blu Ray, but just look at the films that have been. It is all about spectacle: more pixels, more CGI, more gimmicks. This is the direction video games are headed in, developers love it because its easy.
Don't be fooled.
No they can't- they don't have any Nintendo franchises. The best franchises in the industry.
I'm gonna be pleased- Zelda, Donkey Kong, Mario, Metroid, Pikmin all in HD... sorted.
I can appreciate some of the points you're making, games are certainly on their way to being a far more legitimate art form.
However, when compared to books and film, I think they are still quite a long way off, despite a few very impressive offerings such as Portal and Bioshock.
The reason those games are so effective is their quality of writing. Valve, Rockstar and Irrational have all been massively influenced by film and literature though still, their ...
