Couldn't agree more with ODST- definitely the strongest Halo in terms of narrative, characters and definitely gameplay. It was actually a lower priced game in the UK- £30 instead of the usual £40.
For the same price as a DS game, you can buy a PC game here in the UK and what's worse, is that big games like Mario Kart don't ever seem to drop in price, years after release.
With the money I could spend on Mario Kart, I can buy Fallout 3 GOTY Edition and Bioshock for PC and have change left over to buy a beer. Hell, I could buy both Bioshocks for the 360 with the money!
I don't agree with piracy, but DS games are overpriced.
A lot of Apple Macs use hardware more than capable for most games- it is as simple as dual booting Windows on there if gaming is your cup of tea.
Also, don't forget all the people running Hackintosh systems- they mostly all will have used components as good as in any other PC build.
Can't all those hardcore titles be played without Move? I'm sure Move will enhance them, but to me, it isn't worth the price of the Move controller, camera and navigation controller to play those games with motion controls- maybe down the line when there are lots more games like that though.
I think Kinect will sell better than Move, at the very least it can compete sales wise. Gaming wise- I'm not sure yet, controller free gaming could take off and we could e...
I'm looking forward to the single player big time- I love Vietnam/Cold War films and books and I don't think video games have done the era justice yet, except for Snake Eater.
Alan Wake!
I really enjoyed Fable II, but compared to a game such as Oblivion, you can tell how shallow it is. Fable games definitely have some charm though- I'm excited to see how number 3 turns out.
I don't think either of them come close to Knights of the Old Republic. Although, I'm yet to play Mass Effect 2- didn't enjoy the first one as much as reviewers and my friends did so I've been delaying.
Wow, a "graphic designer" who can't stand "common" typefaces. Hmm, Futura? Helvetica? Trade Gothic? DIN? Off the top of my head, The Royal Tenenbaums, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Eyes Wide Shut- just three films that use Futura in their design. I'd call that insane ignorance to write them off for using the same typeface.
"all they did was find a font and type it in"... ever heard of a logotype?
A real graphic designer shoul...
If they were going to do controller tracking, they could just make a Wii style controller like Move, rather than tracking a standard gamepad. I really see them doing this- it wouldn't be that hard, would probably track better than the PS Eye and then they can say "We do what the Move does and if you're casual, we also do controller free gaming". I'm not that bothered about either new motion control idea, but I think people are getting too hung up on Kinect not being suit...
Rare have always been against this sort of thing though haven't they? I swear there was a similar fiasco years back. I don't think its fair to blame Microsoft for Rare's recent crud games- I think staff would have left Rare if they were still with Nintendo, I think a lot of them were pissed with Dinosaur Planet having to be made into Starfox Adventures.
People shouldn't bash Kinect as it can't play first person shooters, but be excited about the entirely new genres it could spawn- seeing as unless its a discussion about Move, people can't stop talking about how they've had enough of first person shooters...
I preferred switching between the roles of the ODST team. They were a cool bunch and I felt the Rookie was a cooler silent type than the Master Chief.
Cinder!
2010 is the year of the Wii, 2011 is the year of the 3DS.
Absolutely brilliant game- I completed it a couple of days ago and all my friends are getting sick of me going on about how great it is.
It does.
Dead Space and Alan Wake scared me tons. I don't think survival horror is dying- just evolving into games like that. Nowadays, Resident Evil 4 mechanics are considered outdated, let alone the earlier games in the series. Newer survival horror games need to embrace modern day game mechanics, which a lot of people don't like, but Dead Space and Alan Wake have got it totally right.
The beauty of Kinect is it offers something new and interesting, which maybe once refined will be great for gaming. If not, they could easily make a Move style controller which works with the camera and have the best of both worlds- providing what the other consoles offer and more. I personally would rather all this motion control funding went into more games for both systems.
Looks really nice, it could do with a bit more of a sense of speed, but obviously there's a long way to go from that video and I'm sure there'll be a ton of post processing to give me what I'm after.
